
Women's Cross Country Places Second-Highest Finish at NCAA Regional Meet

BRONX, N.Y. — The Quinnipiac University women's cross country team finished in its second-highest position ever in an NCAA Regional meet, finishing 12th as a team at Friday morning's Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Bobcats bested a 13th-place finish in 2009 and a slew of 14th-place finishes to climb into second overall, only to be bettered by a ninth-place accolade at the 2006 version of the meet.
Carolyn Martin's crew was led by Liv DiStefano, as the junior clocked in at 21:41.1 to finish a team-best 56th on the leaderboard. Not far behind were Emily Young (61st) and Rachel St. Germain (63rd).

- Along with that 13th-place finish, the Bobcats placed 14th in the 2016, 2008, 2007 and 2005 versions of the Northeast Regional.
- Quinnipiac was one of nine schools to place three runners inside the Top 65 and one of eight to place four runners inside the Top 75. The meet fielded 37 total teams.
- Corinne Barney placed 74th and Alessandra Zaffina finished 95th to round out the Bobcats' scoring.
- Quinnipiac knocked off regional foes Boston College and UMass, among others and followed up their MAAC title with the top finish among conference foes.
