Bobcats Compete at Great Dane Classic

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac indoor track & field team competed at the Great Dane Classic, hosted by the University of Albany at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Seniors Symone Foster and Aisha Gay led the Bobcats with first-places finishes in the 60m hurdles and 400m dash, respectively. In addition, the 4x400m relay team took first place with a time of 3:51.88.
Gay had a stellar performance in the 400m dash, winning the event despite starting in the fifth section without any starting blocks. She is now ranked sixth in the program's top ten list with her time in the 400m. Senior Emily Young also notched a career-best mark in the 1 mile event, which broke into the top four of the program's best times in the event.
The 2022 Great Dane Classic featured 46 teams with over 1,000 athletes. There were no team results.

The Bobcats will compete at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 4-5.

Bobcats on the Track | Results
- Senior Symone Foster won her fifth-straight 60m hurdle final event, matching her career-best time of 8.60. Senior Kalli'ana Botelho was not far behind in the finals with a time of 8.76 finishing in third place.
- Aisha Gay tallied a first place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 56.95, which is a new career-best. Alyssa Romagnoli took seventh in the same event with a time of 58.88.
- In the 200m dash, Hayden Robinson finished in 15th place with a time of 25.95.
- Liv DiStefano continued her solid performance in distance events with a second-place finish in the 5000m (17:12.73). First-year Lydia Keys took sixth place with a time of 18:31.60, and Marisa Keiser was right behind in seventh place with a time 18:40.19. Grace Michaud finished in 11th place with a time of 19:30.76 in the same event.
- Emily Young recorded a time of 4:53.56 in the 1 mile event taking fourth overall. Young's time in the mile event is a new career-best mark. Amanda Carlson placed 12th in the 1 mile with a time of 5:16.21, and Mia Pestle took 13th with a time of 5:17.52. Clare Veverka recorded a time of 5:19.21, finishing in 15th place.
- In the 800m run, Asia Mericer took third place with a time of 2:16.66, which is a new personal best time. Heather Feuchtenberger finished in seventh place with a time of 2:17.88. Brooke Hagen finished in 12th place with a time of 2:20.57.
- In the 1000m run, Cassidy Phillips took 20th place with a time of 3:12.06, which is a new career-best mark.
- Quinnipiac took first place in the 4x400m relay. The team of Romagnoli, first-year Rylie Smith, Britney Del Mundo and Gay finished with a time of 3:51.88.
- Mikah Maples tallied a fifth place finish in the shot put with a 13.23m toss. Maples also finished in 25thplace in the weight throw with a 13.76m toss.
- In the high jump, Botelho took seventh place with a 1.55m mark.
- Zekiah Lewis recorded a 5.00m leap in the long jump, which was good for 23rd place.
The Bobcats will compete at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass., on Feb. 4-5.
