QU Improves to 5-3 in MAAC
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball won its fifth MAAC contest of the year on Wednesday night at the People's United Center in Hamden, topping Rider by the final score of 73-67.
The Bobcats have now won seven of their last nine games, moving to 10-6 on the season.
Kevin Marfo recorded another double-double in the victory, scoring 16 points to go along with 17 rebounds. Matt Balanc added 16 points and five rebounds, Jacob Rigoni chipped in with 11 points, and Dezi Jones recorded 10 points.
QU led for 23:42 in total. The Bobcats shot 23-of-50 (46.0%) from the floor in the win.

- Quinnipiac shot 46.2% in the first half, opening up a three point lead at the break.
- Rider opened up an early 19-14 lead 10:00 minutes into the first half, then the Bobcats went on a 19-0 run to take control. The Quinnipiac run began with 9:43 left in the first half on a Jacob Rigoni triple, and ended with 6:19 left in the half on another Rigoni 3-pointer. QU led 33-19 after the 3:41 outburst.
- The Broncs battled back, however, taking a 60-52 lead with under seven minutes left in regulation. The Bobcats then used another 11-0 run to take the lead back.
- Kevin Marfo's double-double (16 points, 17 rebounds) came over 32 minutes on the court. Marfo shot 5-of-6 in total, and the Bobcats were +18 with him on the floor. He now has seven double-doubles this year.
- Matt Balanc poured in 16 points in 33+ minutes, going 5-of-11 from the field. He now has 11 games with double-digit points totals so far in 2021-22.
- Jacob Rigoni chipped in with 11 points, going 3-for-7 from 3-point distance.
- Dezi Jones recorded 10 points and five assists, going an efficient 3-for-4 from the field.
- Brendan McGuire stuffed the box score with nine points, seven assists and four rebounds off the bench in 26+ minutes.
- Tyrese Williams added seven points off the bench for QU.
- The Bobcats largest lead was 14 points (6:19 in 1st half).
- Quinnipiac has now won six of the last seven meetings vs. Rider, and four straight matches against the Broncs.
- QU is now 7-2 at the People's United Center this season.
