Quinnipiac Improves to 2-2 in League Play
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Quinnipiac volleyball hit the second-best percentage of the season en route to a four set victory over 2020 MAAC runner-up Canisius on Sunday afternoon. Senior Maggie Baker recorded 17 kills for the third time this season and the Bobcats tallied 11 service aces in the victory.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
The match started out as a nearly even split through the first 15 points, as the Bobcats led 8-7 in the early going. A solid run that included two Baker kills opened things up to 16-11, Quinnipiac's largest lead of the set. However, Canisius was quick to respond, rattling off six straight points and regaining the lead at 17-16. After a Nicole Legg kill tied things at 17, the Bobcats scored eight of 13 and clincehd the set on another kill by Baker.
SET TWO (25-22, CANISIUS)
Despite an early Baker kill and an ace from Ka'Ahanui, it was Canisius that controlled the early portion of the second set. Rachel Kinney tallied a kill and then ran off an eight-point service run to open up a 9-2 advantage for the hosts. Trailing 15-12, it was the Bobcats who owned the next run of the match, as the visitors scored eight of 10 points and jumped back in front at 20-17 after yet another Baker kill. Canisius showed resolve as Kinney yet again led the charge with a six-point service run and eventually the Griffs were able to close out the set, 25-22.
SET THREE (25-15, QUINNIPIAC)
After the teams split the first eight points of set three, the Bobcats turned up the heat and took a 5-4 lead that they would not relinquish. A kill by Kara Zaucha pulled Canisius to within five points at 18-13, but the Griffs were only able to score two more points in the set. Legg, Diaz, Baker, Kimsel Moe, Lexi Morse, and Alisa Mejia all had kills in the frame and the Bobcats rolled to a 25-15 set win.
SET FOUR (25-22, QUINNIPIAC)
Canisius pushed to extend the match, erasing an early Bobcats lead and going ahead 13-12 at the midway point fo the set. Once again, Baker recorded a kill to stop the run and the Bobcats began to push for the finish from that point. Trailing 18-17, QU scored five straight, including a kill and an ace from Olga Zampati, and inched closer to the win. Canisius narrowed the deficit to two points before Diaz banged home another kill and finished the victory.

Quinnipiac is back in action on Wednesday for a midweek MAAC contest at Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
