DiLiberatore Nets Game-Winning Power-Play Goal in 3-2 win at St. Lawrence

#11/12 Bobcats Extend Unbeaten Streak to Season-Best Seven Games
CANTON, N.Y. – Peter DiLiberatore (Bedford, Nova Scotia) scored the game-winning power-play goal with 11:38 remaining in the third period Saturday evening as the No. 11/12 Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team extended its unbeaten streak to a season-best seven games with a 3-2 win over the St. Lawrence Saints.
Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) recorded an assist on DiLiberatore's goal to tie the program record of 125 career assists held by Reid Cashman '07. Tufto also scored his fifth goal of the season early in the first period to become the second player in the nation with 40 points.
Ethan de Jong got the scoring started with his 13th of the season just 21 seconds into the game before Tufto doubled the lead three minutes later to take a 2-0 lead.
Despite a pair of second period goals, Keith Petruzzelli (Wilbraham, Massachusetts) was stellar between the pipes with 13 saves in the period and finished the night with 29 saves.
DiLiberatore's goal in the third was good enough to stand was the game-winner as he picked up his fourth of the season.

- (0:21, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 1, St. Lawrence 0: The Bobcats got the scoring going just 21 seconds into the game as Lombardi carried a pass from Zach Metsa (Delafield, Wisconsin) up the left wing and circled the net where he found de Jong wide open above the crease.
- (3:22, 1st period) – Quinnipiac 2, St. Lawrence 0: Tufto scored his fifth goal of the season as he crashed the net and jammed home a centering feed from Lombardi to double the Bobcats lead.
- (0:33, 2nd period – SH) – Quinnipiac 2, St. Lawrence 1: A shot was blocked in the defensive end and Kaden Pickering chased down the loose puck and beat everyone on a breakaway with his backhand finish.
- (8:15, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 2, St. Lawrence 2: The Bobcats turned over the puck in the defensive zone as Cameron Buhl tipped a pass on goal. Petruzzelli made the initial save, but then Buhl spun around and swiped the puck home.
- (8:22, 3rd period – PP) – Quinnipiac 3, St. Lawrence 2: Tufto kept the puck in the offensive zone as St. Lawrence tried to clear it. He dropped a pass for DiLiberatore, who shifted the puck across the zone to Metsa who went right back to DiLiberatore where he wristed home the goal past St. Lawrence Emil Zetterquist.
- Tufto scored a goal and an assist to reach the 40-point mark for the third time in his career.
- He is just the second player in Division I program history to record three 40-point seasons, joined by Cashman.
- With an assist Saturday, Tufto tied Cashman's program record with 125 assists, and recorded the 161st point in his career, just eight from tying the Division I program record of 169 held by Bryan Leitch '09 and Brian Herbert '03.
- de Jong recorded a goal and an assist to give him a goal in three straight games and a point in four straight.
- He also has points in eight of his last nine games.
- de Jong is having a career-year as he has 13 goals and is one point shy of tying his career-high 25 from his rookie season.
- Lombardi recorded two assists for the first time since the season-opener and extended his point streak to four games.
- He also has points in six of his last seven games.
- Metsa extended his point streak to five games with a two-assist night against St. Lawrence.
- He is just one point away from reaching the 25-point mark for the first time in his career.
- DiLiberatore also extended his own point streak to four games with his game-winning power-play goal.
- He is up to four goals and 14 assists for 18 points this season.
- Petruzzelli made 29 saves en route to becoming the fifth goaltender in program history to win 50 games in a career as he played in his 90th game.
- The Bobcats return to Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena for the final weekend of the regular season as they host the Colgate Raiders in a weekend series with puck drop set for 6 p.m. Friday night and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
