
#5/5 Women's Ice Hockey Takes Down UConn to Win 2021 Nutmeg Classic Championship

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 5/5 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team downed the UConn Huskies, 3-2, to earn the team's ninth Nutmeg Classic Championship. Three different Bobcats scored in the win, and graduate student Corinne Schroeder earned her eighth win of the season.
Sophomores Sophie Urban and Nina Steigauf graduate student Taylor House all scored in the win. Steigauf scored the game-winning goal in the third period. The Bobcats and Huskies traded goals throughout the game, but the Bobcats held on to earn the 3-2 victory.
Quinnipiac tallied back-to-back Nutmeg Championships in the win today. The Bobcats lead the Nutmeg Classic teams with nine championships total. House was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, and Steigauf, sophomore Olivia Mobley and Schroeder were all named to the All-Tournament Team.

- (18:37, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, UConn: The Bobcats scored the first goal of the game late in the first period. Urban tipped a puck to gain back possession, and Ann-Frederik Naud secured the puck. She skated behind the net and found Urban on the opposite side, and Urban buried the puck past UConn's Megan Warrener.
- (5:08, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, UConn 1: Natalie Snodgrass tallied the Huskies' first equalizer of the game from Claire Peterson.
- (8:46, 2nd period, PP) – Quinnipiac 2, UConn 1: House took a face-off in the Bobcats' offensive zone and secured the win. She fired a shot at Warrener, got her own rebound and shot again, scoring an unassisted goal to give Quinnipiac the 2-1 lead.
- (10:40, 3rd period, 4v4) – Quinnipiac 2, UConn 2: The Huskies tied the game for the second time with a 4-vs-4 goal by Mogan Wabick. She was assisted by Snodgrass.
- (11:25, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 3, UConn 2: Steigauf scored the game-winning goal for the Bobcats in the third period. Sophomore Kendall Cooper secured the puck on the right point from House. She shot the puck on net, and Steigauf got the rebound and bounced it off Warrener into the goal.
- House netted her second goal of the weekend and has recorded nine goals this season to lead the team. She also had an assist in the win, which is her first multi-point game.
- Urban tallied her third goal of the year and has five points so far this season.
- Steigauf scored seventh goal of the season. She has 11 points this season with a team-high three game-winning goals.
- Naud, Cooper and House all recorded helpers in the win. Cooper had three assists total this weekend.
- Schroeder made 24 stops in the net, tallying her eighth win of the season.
- The Bobcats were outshot 26-21.
- The face-off battle was tight, but UConn had the edge, winning 51%.
- Senior Lexie Adzija led the team with six shots on goal.
- Quinnipiac killed off all four of their penalties, allowing five shots through six minutes and 18 seconds penalty minutes.
