Bobcats Complete Weekend Sweep with 4-0 Win over No. 5/5 Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The No. 6/7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team recorded its second-straight shutout, taking down No. 5/5 Colgate in a 4-0 win on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats defeated both Cornell and Colgate on the road this weekend, tallying the team's first shutout sweep over the Raiders and Big Red in program history. In addition, Quinnipiac's 4-0 win over No. 5/5 Colgate is the team's highest ranked victory since 2015-16.
The Bobcats improve to 13-1-2 overall and 7-1 in ECAC Hockey play. Colgate moves to 13-4-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference.
Four different Bobcats tallied goals in the win – first-year Maya Labad, sophomores Sophie Urban and Nina Steigauf and junior Jess Schryver all lit the lamp in the victory. Graduate student Corinne Schroeder had a tremendous game in the net, recording a season-high 38 saves and allowing no goals against.

SCORING SUMMARY
- (5:33, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 1, Colgate 0: Sophomore Sophie Urban scored a tip-in goal five minutes into the game off a shot by redshirt junior Courtney Vorster.
- (14:20, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, Colgate 0: Junior Jess Schryver scored the team's second goal from sophomore Olivia Mobley and Lexie Adzija. Adzija secured the puck on the right wall and found Mobley on the right side of the slot. Mobley sent the puck to the left back door and Schryver was there to send it home.
- (15:15, 2nd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 3, Colgate 0: Sophomore Nina Steigauf scored an unassisted goal in the second period off a bad pass by a Colgate defender that bounced off of the net.
- (1:11, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, Colgate 0: First-year Maya Labad netted her second goal of the weekend off a tip from Urban. Sophomore Maddy Samoskevich shot the puck from the left point, and Urban tipped it to the net. Labad sent the rebound into the back of the net.
- Quinnipiac recorded the team's first every road shutout sweep over Cornell and Colgate.
- The Bobcats secured the team's highest ranked victory since the 2020-21 season when Quinnipiac also took down No. 5/5 Colgate, 5-3 at home, on Feb. 27, 2021.
- The time before last season when the Bobcats defeated a No. 5/5 ranked team was on March 6, 2016 when Quinnipiac defeated No. 5 Clarkson, 1-0, in the ECAC Championship game.
- For the second straight game, four different Bobcats scored in the win. Eight Bobcats total tallied at least one point, and Urban led the team with two points.
- Both Schryver and Labad recorded one goal in each game this weekend. Schryver now has 13 points on three goals and 10 assists this season. Labad has three goals and two assists for five points.
- Urban notched two points in the win, which is her first multi-point game of her career.
- Schroeder (7-1-1) recorded a season-high 38 saves against the Raiders and tallied her third shutout of the season.
- The Bobcats went 0-1 on the power play and held strong on the penalty kill, successfully killing off all four of Colgate's power plays.
- The Raiders outshot Quinnipiac 38-13.
- Colgate held the edge in the faceoff circle, winning 53%.
