Bobcats Upset Marist to Advance to MAAC Semifinals

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Behind double-figure kill totals from four different players, sixth-seeded Quinnipiac volleyball team defeated third seeded Marist in a five-set thriller to advance to the MAAC Semifinals inside of the UHY Center on Friday evening.
Nicole Legg and Lexi Morse led the way with 14 kills apiece for the Bobcats, while Georgia Tselepi and Aryanah Diaz added 12 kills apiece in the victory. Chloe Ka'ahanui and Nicole Migliozzi contributed 29 assists each in the win.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
Trailing 9-5 in the first set, Quinnipiac went on a 7-1 run to take a 12-10 lead in the frame. After Marist tied the set at 12-12, the two sides traded points to a 20-20 tie in the set. Knotted up at 20-20, the Bobcats closed the set with a 5-1 run, capped by Marist ball handling error to secure the set for Quinnipiac.
SET TWO (23-25)
Marist and Quinnipiac traded points throughout the set, playing to a 23-23 tie in the set. However, Marist scored back-to-back kills to knot the match at one set apiece.
SET THREE (25-21)
With Quinnipiac holding a narrow 19-16 lead in the set, the Bobcats were able to outscore the Red Foxes 6-5 to close the set with a 25-21 victory. Olga Zampati and Diaz led Quinnipiac with four kills apiece in the set. The Bobcats hit .318 in the set, compared to the Red Foxes' .200 clip.
SET FOUR (23-25)
The two sides were evenly matched in the set, with neither team taking more than a three-point lead in the frame. Trailing 23-21 in the set, a Marist service error and kill from Zampati allowed the Bobcats to knot the set. However, the Red Foxes scored two consecutive points to force a fifth and deciding set.
SET FIVE (15-10)
The two sides played to a 3-3 tie in the set before the Bobcats went on an 8-2 run to take a commanding 11-5 lead in the set. The run was led by two kills apiece from Legg and Diaz. The Red Foxes were never able to recover as the Bobcats were able to complete the sweep to earn a date with Rider in the MAAC Semifinals.
NEXT MATCH
The Bobcats will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 20, when No. 6 Quinnipiac takes on No. 2 Rider in the MAAC Semifinals at 7 p.m.
