Volleyball Secures Season Sweep over Canisius With 3-1 Victory

HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior Georgia Tselepi and sophomore Lexi Morse combined for 23 kills to lead the Quinnipiac volleyball team past Canisius in four sets at home on Burt Kahn Court on Saturday afternoon.
Junior Aryanah Diaz added 12 kills and 14 digs for a double-double, while sophomore Chloe Ka'Ahanui contributed a team-best 26 assists.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
Evenly matched through most of the set, the two sides played to a 13-13 tie before the Bobcats narrowly pulled ahead 18-16. A block by Alexandra Tennon and a service ace from Georgia Tselepi put Quinnipiac upn 20-16. The Golden Griffins responded with two straight points to cut the Bobcats' lead to 20-18, forcing a timeout. Canisius was able to cut it to as close as 23-22, however with Quinnipiac holding set point, the Golden Griffins had a bad set to gift the Bobcats the set win.
SET TWO (25-19)
After trading points in the set to a 10-10 tie, the Bobcats went on a 7-0 run, led by a kill apiece from Nicole Legg, Aryanah Diaz and Tselepi to force a Canisius timeout. Out of the timeout the Bobcats built their lead to 20-13 before the Golden griffins went on an 8-3 run to cut the Quinnipiac lead to 23-17. However with the Bobcats up 24-19, Legg scored a kill to secure the set win to go up 2-0 in sets.
SET THREE (22-25)
The two sides played to a 3-3 tie in the set before the Bobcats went on an 8-3 run, led by two kills from Tselepi. However, the Golden Griffins responded with a 6-3 run of its own to cut the score to 14-12 to force a Quinnipiac timeout. With the set tied at 21-21, Canisius scored a kill to go up one to force a Quinnipiac timeout. Out of the timeout, Canisius took three of the next four points to steal the set.
SET FOUR (25-21)
The two sides were even in the set, with the Bobcats and Golden griffins tied at 13-13 midway through the set. The two sides remained even up until 18-18, when Quinnipiac scored points on back-to-back kills from Legg and Diaz to go up 20-18 and to force a timeout from Canisius. Out of the timeout, the Bobcats took four of the next six points to set up match point. Leading 24-21, Rachel Kinney scored the final kill to seal the match victory for the Bobcats.
NEXT MATCH
The Bobcats will be back in action on Sunday, October 24, as Quinnipiac plays host to MAAC foe Niagara at 1 p.m. on Burt Kahn Court to close the weekend.
