Bobcats Drop 3-0 Decision at Home Against Iona

HAMDEN, Conn. – Junior Aryanah Diaz tallied team-highs of eight kills and nine digs, as the Quinnipiac volleyball team fell against Iona at home on Burt Kahn Court, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Maggie Baker, Nicole Legg and Olga Zampoti added five kills apiece in the loss.

QUINNIPIAC STATISTICAL LEADERS
SET ONE (25-18, Iona)
Iona jumped out to an early 5-1 lead before pushing its lead to 8-4. The Gaels maintained distance throughout the set, with the Bobcats cutting the deficit to as close as 18-13 before ultimately falling in the set 25-18. Baker led the way with four kills in the set.
SET TWO (25-12)
The two sides played to a 5-5 tie in the set before Iona went on an 11-1 run to take a commanding 16-6 lead. The Gaels never looked back, securing the set win 25-12.
SET THREE (25-22)
The Bobcats stormed back in the third set, opening the stanza with a 7-2 lead behind three straight kills from Diaz to open the set and to force an Iona timeout. Out of the timeout, Iona went on a 10-5 run to knot the score at 12-12. The two sides traded points to a 21-21 tie before an Iona block at the net gave the Gaels a one-point advantage and forced a Quinnipiac timeout. The Gaels took three of the ensuing four points out of the timeout to secure the set and match victory over the Bobcats.

The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, October 17, as Quinnipiac plays host to MAAC foe Manhattan at 1 p.m. on Burt Kahn Court.
