Markey Nets Two Goals in Bobcats' 6-0 Win over LIU

Quinnipiac wins it's third straight game, first of 2021
HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 10 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team downed the LIU Sharks, 6-0, on Sunday evening in Hamden. Senior Grace Markey led the way with two goals, and four other Bobcats scored in the win. Quinnipiac women's ice hockey has now opened the 2020-21 season on a three-game win streak, outscoring opponents, 21-2.
Sophomore netminder Allie Kelley and first-year netminder Catie Boudiette each recorded their first career game. Redshirt-sophomore Logan Angers recorded her third start of the year.

- (8:37, 1st period, SH) – Quinnipiac 1, LIU: Senior Grace Markey secured the puck on the edge of the defensive zone during a Quinnipiac penalty kill. She skated with the puck past two LIU defensemen and scored the eventual game-winner.
- (12:39, 1st period, EV) – Quinnipiac 2, LIU 0: First-year Maddy Samoskevich scored her first career goal in the slot from sophomore Kenzie Hauswirth to give the Bobcats a 2-0 lead.
- (9:28, 2nd period, PP) – Quinnipiac 3, LIU 0: First-year Kendall Cooper sent the puck up to sophomore Kate Reilly, who skated on the left side and sent the puck towards the crease. Senior Laura Lundblad found the rebound and redirected it into the goal past LIU's Kenzie Harmison.
- (6:14, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 4, LIU 0: Reilly added her second point of the game after scoring a rocket of a goal from the left side circle to give Quinnipiac a 4-0 lead.
- (14:42, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 5, LIU 0: Markey scored her second of the game after a nice buildup from the Quinnipiac breakout. Senior Renee Saltness found first-year Nina Steigauf on the right side, who sent a first-time pass to Markey, who was open on the back-door.
- (17:07, 3rd period, EV) – Quinnipiac 6, LIU 0: Sophomore Alexa Hoskin scored her first of the season on a tap in from Lundblad and junior Lexie Adzija.
- Quinnipiac won its third-straight game and first of 2021 in the 6-0 win.
- This is the team's first shutout of the season, and the Bobcats outshot the Sharks 53-16.
- Markey, Reilly, Samoskevich, Cooper and Lundblad all recorded multi-point games.
- Cooper and Samoskevich both recorded their first career points as Bobcats.
- Boudiette and Kelley also earned time in their first career games.
- Quinnipiac recorded a 62.2 faceoff percentage in the win.
