Chester, England Native Played for Crewe Alexandra (2018-2020)
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's soccer program and head coach Eric Da Costa have received a commitment from defender Luke Allen, as announced on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020.
The Chester, England native most recently played for Crewe Alexandra from 2018-2020. Allen, a 6-foot-2 central defender, played for the Everton FC Development squad from 2009-2011, then joined Crew Alexandra Academy from 2011-2018.
"Luke is a central defender with great versatility who fits our style of play," Da Costa said. "He will add immediate depth to our defensive unit, and with his positive workman mentality he will help push all of his teammates. Luke and his family will be wonderful additions to our program. He is certainly coming into the environment under different circumstances, but we all have a positive attitude and we will use this as an opportunity to grow and be better. We look forward to welcoming him very soon."
Allen represented the ISFA (Independent School's Football Association) – which consists of the top players in all independent schools in England – in 2014, 2015 and 2016. He also played for the Wales National Team against Switzerland and Belgium in a Tri Nations Tournament (2017-2019). He plans to study business/management at Quinnipiac.
"[I chose Quinnipiac] because of the great location, and because of the great coaching staff that made me feel like a part of the team from day one," Allen said. "I'm looking forward to working hard both in the classroom and on the field, and also to meeting like-minded individuals who will work together to do what is best for the team."
