Da Costa, Bobcats Welcome Cyprus-Native Antreas Hadjigavriel to Program

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's soccer and Head Coach Eric Da Costa have announced the addition of goalkeeper Antreas Hadjigavriel to the program's roster heading into the 2020 season.

"Antreas will join two talented goalkeepers with very specific skill sets," Da Costa said. "His talent and international experience will help with the transition and we look forward to him competing within the group. He and his family are very welcomed additions to our program and we are excited for them to join us in August."

Hadjigavriel – a native of Nicosia, Cyprus – played his club soccer for Olympiakos Nicosia. He was called up to represent his country at the age of 14, starting all European qualifying group stage matches in his age bracket. Currently, he has accumulated 29 total international appearances (competitive and friendly matches).

"I believe Quinnipiac is the right fit for me for multiple reasons," Hadjigavriel said. "It has a competitive soccer program that helps every athlete develop to their full potential, and it also has a very highly-rated degree in Business and Finance. I'm looking to settle in as quickly as possible, and hopefully I can help the program achieve its goals while continuing to develop my own game. Every day is a new chance to learn, and that's what I aim to do at Quinnipiac!"

Hadjigavriel is a four-time winner in the Ayia Napa Development Tournament, has been award the Best Goalkeeper Award in the Ayia Napa Development Tournament on five different occasions, and represented his school in various title contests across Cyprus.
