Quinnipiac Moves to 5-2 in MAAC Play
HAMDEN, Conn. – Rich Kelly led the way with 27 points on Friday night at the People's United Center, powering Quinnipiac men's basketball past in-state rival Fairfield by the final score of 81-67.
Kelly – a junior – recorded his 1,000th career point in the win for the Bobcats, shooting 8-of-18 from the floor while adding six assists and two rebounds in front of the largest crowd of the season in Hamden.
Redshirt junior big man Kevin Marfo added 13 points and 15 rebounds, earning his ninth double-double of 2019-20. Marfo remains the only player in Division I basketball to record 10+ rebounds each time he has taken the floor.
The Bobcats shot 26-of-58 (44.8 percent) from the floor in total, knocking down 12 more three-pointers.

- With a game-high 27 points, Rich Kelly becomes the 15th player in Division I program history to reach 1,000 career points. He is the 42nd player in Quinnipiac's history to reach 1,000 points.
- Kelly is now averaging 13.1 points per game over his 75-game career with QU.
- Kevin Marfo shot 3-of-3 from the floor en route to another double-double, adding seven made free throws at the charity stripe. He was a +16 in almost 30 minutes played.
- Tyrese Williams and Matt Balanc both chipped in with 11 points. Williams shot 4-of-7 from the floor (three made three-pointers), and Balanc went 4-for-8 from the field.
- Tyree Pickron made his season debut for Quinnipiac, recording three points, three assists and two rebounds in 27+ minutes. Pickron finished the game +16 while on the floor – tied with Marfo for the best mark on the team.
- Both programs recorded 39 rebounds. The Bobcats assisted on 16 baskets.
- Quinnipiac outscored Fairfield 13-6 in second-chance points.
- The Bobcats led for 30:09 in total.
- Quinnipiac is now 8-6 all-time against Fairfield.
- The Bobcats are back in action on Sunday, Jan. 26, traveling to Albany to take on Siena at the Times Union Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
