Three Tries by Mikah Maples Give Bobcats 74-20 Victory over Notre Dame
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac senior Mikah Maples scored three first-half tries, including one in the second minute of play, to lead the women's rugby team to a commanding 74-20 victory over the Notre Dame College Falcons on Saturday afternoon.
Maples led the Bobcats with three tries and sophomore Mckenna Haz posted 19 points with seven conversions and a try.

The Bobcats did not waste any time in Saturday's NIRA opener, as Meg Rose set up Mikah Maples for the game's first try in the second minute of the half. Four minutes later, sophomore speedster Clara Lemal-Brown nearly went the entire length of the field on 95-yard run for a try that was followed by a Haz conversion.
After a Notre Dame penalty kick cut the lead down to 12-3, Maples responded with her second try of the day at the 18-minute mark.
The Falcons scored their only try of the first half at the 22-minute mark and the Bobcats answered with 19 straight points to end the half. Maples' third try started the flurry of points and was followed by Grace Martin's first try as well as Haz' 5-point marker. Lemal-Brown earned an assist on Haz' score, while fellow sophomore Allison Koenig had the helper on Maples' effort. Haz made two conversions on three attempts to finish the half for Quinnipiac.
Quinnipiac put the game away in the first 22 minutes of the second half thanks to tries by Lemal-Brown, Koenig, Jordan Cowan, and Erin Terwilliger. Lemal-Brown, Martin, and Destiny Henry all picked up assists during the onslaught that pushed the Bobcats to a 62-8 advantage.
After two Notre Dame tries (with one conversion), the Bobcats earned the last laugh by ending the game with a pair of tries by Martin and Koenig.
SCORING SUMMARY
After a week off to end September, the Bobcats continue their road swing on October 5 at Harvard. That NIRA contest will begin at noon at Mignone Field in Cambridge, Mass.
