Bobcats Have Had 20 Honored on All-Academic Team in Nine Straight Seasons

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey has placed 23 players on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Wednesday, July 10.

The Bobcats' 23 all-academic team selections are its most since 2016 when the program placed 26 players on the all-academic team. Quinnipiac tied with Cornell for the fifth-most in ECAC Hockey.

Quinnipiac has had at least 20 players named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic team in each of the past nine seasons.

To be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes must have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a GPA over 3.00 in the past three semesters.

In addition to the 23 all-academic team selections, senior assistant captain Scott Davidson (Trail, British Columbia) was selected as the program's Commissioner's List honoree, showcasing a top scholar from each ECAC Hockey Institution.

Davidson, Chase Priskie (Pembroke Pines, Florida), Craig Martin (Trail, British Columbia) and Luke Shiplo (Oakville, Ontario) all were recognized four straight years from ECAC Hockey on the all-academic team and were among the 40 players in the league recognized four times.

Juniors Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia), Nick Jermain (Norwalk, Connecticut), Brogan Rafferty (Dundee, Illinois), Andrew Shortridge (Anchorage, Alaska) and Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) were all named to the all-academic team for the third time in three seasons while Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) was named for a second straight season.

Quinnipiac had 13 players named to the all-academic team for the first time, including 12 members of the freshman class.
