
Top-Seeded Women's Tennis Earns Eight All-MAAC Awards

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – Quinnipiac women's tennis earned eight total 2018-19 All-MAAC awards, as announced by the conference office during Friday night's annual awards banquet at the Mountain View Golf Course.
Jennifer Lu earned First Team All-MAAC honors in No. 2 singles, Kamilla Nella was named First Team All-MAAC at the No. 3 singles position, Courtney Nash was tabbed First Team All-MAAC in No. 6 singles, and Payton Bradley and Kamilla Nella were named First Team All-MAAC in No. 2 doubles.
Four Bobcats received Second Team All-Conference awards, as well. Dominique Vasile earned No. 1 singles All-MAAC Second Team honors, Payton Bradley was named to the All-MAAC Second Team in No. 4 singles, Layla Rodriguez earned All-MAAC Second Team honors in No. 5 singles, Jennifer Lu and Layla Rodriguez earned Second Team in No. 3 doubles.
Jennifer Lu went 13-15 in singles action this season for Quinnipiac, going 4-1 in MAAC play. Lu's 13 wins were tied for the third-highest total of any Bobcat this season. She earned No. 2 singles wins vs. Rider, Niagara, Siena and Monmouth. The senior has now earned postseason All-MAAC honors in each of her four seasons with the program.
Kamilla Nella went 15-15 overall in singles action, tied for the most singles wins on the team. She was 5-1 in the MAAC as a freshman, going 7-3 in tournament play. Nella has won five of her last six singles matches heading in to postseason action.
Courtney Nash posted an impressive 15-8 record for the Bobcats in singles action, going a perfect 6-0 in conference matches. She has won four of her last five singles matches to date. Nash – a sophomore – has now earned First Team All-MAAC honors at No. 6 singles in two consecutive seasons.
Payton Bradley and Kamilla Nella won four matches together at No. 4 doubles, posting a 3-1 record in MAAC play. They've won three straight conference matches to close the season over Marist, Monmouth and Fairfield.
Dominique Vasile won 12 singles matches for QU playing predominately in the No. 1 slot, and posted a 5-1 MAAC mark. The 2017-18 MAAC Player and Rooke of the Year has now earned All-Conference honors in each of her first two years at Quinnipiac.
Payton Bradley won 13 matches in singles play, going 4-2 in the MAAC. She won four of five matches to begin the season in the fall, then closed the regular season with three straight singles victories. The sophomore has now been an All-MAAC honoree in each of her first two years.
Layla Rodriguez went 9-11 singles action, recording four MAAC wins. Rodriguez is now an All-MAAC award earner in three straight years, winning four of her last five matches to close the regular season.
Jennifer Lu and Layla Rodriguez went 5-3 as a duo, including a perfect 3-0 MAAC mark. The tandem finished the season red-hot, winning five of their last six doubles matches.
Quinnipiac women's tennis begins its quest for a sixth-straight MAAC title on Saturday at 10:00 a.m., as the No. 1 Bobcats square off with No. 4 Siena in semifinals.
