NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis returns to action on Saturday, traveling to New Haven for a non-conference match vs. Sacred Heart.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's tennis returns to action on Saturday, traveling to New Haven for a non-conference match vs. Sacred Heart.
LAST TIME OUT: at ARMY
- Quinnipiac men's tennis earned an impressive win over Army on Saturday night at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center, winning by a 5-2 final in non-conference action.
- With the win, the Bobcats move to 3-4 (2-0 MAAC). The victory is Quinnipiac's first-ever win vs. Army.
- Patrick Cachapero clinched the win for the Bobcats, winning his No. 5 singles match
- Patrick Cachapero and Hielke Moore won their second contest of the spring as a duo, topping Gorshein/Mitchell in No. 2 doubles 6-3.
- Austin Yannone won his second doubles match of the spring, while Alester Magalit won his first in their No. 3 doubles win.
- Aleksa Martinovic has now won three singles matches this spring – the most on the team. He own over Mitchell in three sets.
- Alester Magalit, Patrick Cachapero and Austin Yannone all won their second singles match of the season, as all three at Niagara on Feb. 16.
- The Bobcats were tabbed second in the 2019 MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference office on Thursday, Jan. 17.
- The Bobcats, who received one first place vote in the poll, earned 42 total points. Quinnipiac finished just behind Monmouth, who earned 48 total points in the poll. Marist finished third, Fairfield fourth and Siena fifth in the preseason vote.
- Chris Pappas enters his fifth season as the head coach of the Quinnipiac men's tennis team in 2018-19, after three impressive seasons at the helm of the program. Pappas is a two-time MAAC Coach of the Year selection, and helped guide the Bobcats to a 17-4 record in league play during his first three seasons.
- In 2016-17, Pappas and the Bobcats won a program-record 16 contests. During that season, the Bobcats also claimed a share of their first MAAC Regular Season Championship in program history, and first overall regular season championship since the 2005-06 season when the Bobcats were in the NEC.
- Patrick Cachapero (Loma Linda, CA) returns for his junior season with the Bobcats after earning All-MAAC Second Team honors in No. 1 doubles in 2017-18. Cachapero, also a MAAC All-Academic Team selection, went 5-2 in singles and 4-1 in doubles during MAAC play last year.
- Hielke Moore (Fredericton, New Brunswick) was an All-MAAC Second Team selection for No. 6 singles as a freshman in 2017-18. He went 5-2 in singles, and 4-1 in doubles during MAAC action.
- Axel Stern (Tustin, CA) earned All-MAAC Second Team status as a sophomore in 2017-18. Stern, also an All-Academic honoree, went 6-1 in both singles and doubles during MAAC action. His 17 overall singles wins were the second-most on the team.
- Austin Yannone (Severna Park, MD) went 2-2 in singles and 4-2 in doubles during conference play last year. He was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
- Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, NJ) went 5-8 in singles and 9-7 in doubles last year as a junior. He went 2-0 during doubles action in MAAC play.
- Quinnipiac has added four newcomers to its 2018-19 roster. Jack Alexander, Alester Magalit, Aleksa Martinovic and Bryan Schick will all join the Bobcats as freshman this season.
