Fourth Quarter Run Lifts Quinnipiac to Win
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Quinnipiac women's basketball faced its toughest MAAC test to this point in the season, trailing by more than 12 minutes against Fairfield, but earned a 48-40 road win on Sunday afternoon.
The Bobcats outscored Fairfield 17-7 in the fourth quarter, including a 7-0 run to close it out.

- Much like this season's initial meeting, Fairfield gave its best effort from the opening tip, jumping out to an early 9-6 lead.
- An 11-0 run, spanning the first and second quarters, lifted the Bobcats to an eight-point lead which was their largest advantage of the afternoon.
- Fairfield responded with a run of their own, cutting the lead to two points in second quarter, and ultimately four at halftime.
- The third quarter belonged to the Stags, who outscored the Bobcats, 13-7, in the frame. Lou Lopez-Senechal equaled Quinnipiac's point total with seven points in the quarter.
- Quinnipiac owned the fourth quarter, scoring eight of the first nine points to open up a 39-34 lead at the game's final media timeout. Fairfield still would not go away, rattling off a quick 6-2 run to close within a point.
- The Bobcats knocked down seven unanswered free throws and stood tall on the defensive end to earn the hard-fought victory.
- The defensive effort was the 13th time this season that Quinnipiac allowed less than 50 points in a game and the tenth in 14 MAAC contests.
- Quinnipiac forced 22 turnovers on the day, marking the 16th opponent to commit more than 20 in a game.
- The Bobcats improved to 99-4 when leading at halftime, dating back to the start of the 2014-15 season.
NEXT UP
The Bobcats head back to the Garden State to take on second-place Rider in a 7:00 p.m. start in Lawrenceville, N.J on Thursday evening. A win for the Bobcats would clinch the program's fifth-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season championship.
