Bobcats Erase Late Deficit, Top Rider in OT

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's basketball erased a nine-point deficit with just 49 seconds left in regulation, then outscored Rider 17-7 in overtime to earn a 98-88 win on Tuesday night at the People's United Center in Hamden.
Cameron Young (25 points) and Tyrese Williams (23 points) led the way for the Bobcats, as five Quinnipiac players scored in double figures.
Tyrese Williams hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation, then Jacob Rigoni made three foul shots with less than two seconds remaining to force overtime.

NOTES
- The Bobcats shot 32-for-65 (49.2 percent) from the floor, knocking down 13 3-point field goals.
- After Rider got out to a quick 8-2 lead to begin the game, the Bobcats went on a 15-2 run from 16:11 to 11:45 in the first half. The run began with a Cameron Young 3-pointer, and ended with a Kevin Marfo dunk off an entry pass from Tyrese Williams.
- Rider ended the first half on a 5-0 run over the final 36 seconds of the first half, taking a 32-31 lead in to the break.
- The Bobcats outscored Rider 12-5 over the final 60 seconds of the contest, and 6-2 over the final 15 seconds.
- With tonight's win, Head Coach Baker Dunleavy has now defeated all 10 MAAC opponents in less than two full seasons with the program.
- Cameron Young led the way once again, recording 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists. The graduate guard shot 9-for-18 from the floor, playing in more than 43 minutes. He leads the MAAC in total scoring with 21.3 points per contest.
- Tyrese Williams added a career-high 23 points, going 6-for-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 from 3-point distance. Williiams hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left in regulation, which – at the time – put the Bobcats within two points.
- Jacob Rigoni chipped in with 14 points, a career-high 12 rebounds and five assist. Rigoni shot 4-of-11 from the floor, knocking down all three foul shots to force overtime at the end of regulation.
- Rich Kelly added 16 points, four rebounds and four assists over 39+ minutes.
- Abdulai Bundu added 11 points and five rebounds in the victory, and Kevin Marfo grabbed nine rebounds.
- Rebounds were even at 46 apiece.
- The Bobcats assisted on 20 of 32 made baskets.
- There were seven total lead changes, and the game was tied four times.
- The Bobcats are back in action on Friday, Feb. 15, hosting Marist at 8:00 p.m. in Hamden.
