Bobcats Earn 20-Point Road Win at Maine

BAGNOR, Maine – Quinnipiac men's basketball earned its largest victory of the season to date on Sunday, Dec. 15, defeating Maine by the final score of 81-61 at Cross Insurance Center.
Kevin Marfo recorded his fourth double-double of the season in the victory, scoring 14 points to go along with 15 more rebounds. Rich Kelly (21 points), Jacob Rigoni (15 points) and Aaron Falzon (13 points) also added double-digit point totals in the win.
The 20-point victory is Quinnipiac's largest win of the season, topping the Bobcats' previous season-best 17-point win vs. Albany on Nov. 22 in Hamden. It's the second largest win of the Baker Dunleavy Era, as Quinnipiac defeated Bethune-Cookman by 24 points (87-63) on Dec. 19, 2018.

- The Bobcats used a 24-4 run in the first half over an 8+ minute span to get out to an early lead. The run began with an Aaron Falzon three-pointer with 14:48 left in the half, an ended on two straight Rich Kelly three-pointers with just over six minutes remaining. Quinnipiac led 29-10 at the end of the run.
- Maine went on a 10-2 run over the first 3:27 of the second half to cut the Bobcats' lead to just three points (38-25). The Bobcats then outscored the Black Bears by 17 points the rest of the way.
- Quinnipiac shot 50.0 percent (25-of-50) in total. The Bobcats have now shot 50.0 percent or better in three straight contests, and four times this year.
- The Bobcats went 15-for-35 (42.9 percent) from three-point distance, converting on seven shots from distance in the first half and eight in the second.
- Rich Kelly led the way with 21 points and five assists, including five made three-pointers in the win. The junior is now averaging a MAAC-best 17.9 points per game.
- Kevin Marfo recorded 15 more rebounds in the win for the Bobcats, adding 14 points on 4-of-4 shooting. He's grabbed double-digit rebound totals in each of the Bobcats' first eight games of the season. Marfo is the only player in the country to grab 10+ rebounds every time he's taken the floor in 2019-20.
- Jacob Rigoni scored a season-high 15 points, while Aaron Falzon registered his second-largest point total of the season (13).
- Tyrese Williams chipped in with six points and a season-high six assists.
- Quinnipiac is now 8-4 all-time against Maine, going 5-1 vs. the Black Bears on the road.
- The Bobcats finish the 2019-20 non-conference schedule next weekend, traveling to Atlantic City to compete in the 2019 Boardwalk Battle. Quinnipiac will square off with Drexel on Friday, Dec. 20 at 4:30 p.m., then either Bowling Green or Norfolk State on Saturday, Dec. 21 from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
