Bobcats to take on Canisius in MAAC Semifinals
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The #6 seeded Quinnipiac volleyball team defeated the #3 Rider Broncs in four sets on Friday night in the MAAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
With the win the Bobcats advance to tomorrow night's MAAC Tournament Semifinals as they will match up with the #2 seeded Canisius Golden Griffins. The match will begin at 5 p.m. at Fairfield University's Alumni Hall.

SET ONE
Maggie Baker got the Bobcats on the board, which tied the set at one. The Bobcats won three consecutive points to take a 6-3 lead. Rider answered back with four straight points of their own to take a 9-8 lead. The Bobcats entered the media timeout on a 6-0 run, and extended that to 7-0 to gain a 16-10 lead. Rider called a timeout with the Bobcats on a 3-0 run and leading 22-13. Rider would go on a 3-0 run to cut the Bobcats lead to 23-16, but the Bobcats won the final two points of the set to take the first set 25-16.
SET TWO
The Bobcats won three consecutive points to take a 4-2 lead, and they won the next point as well to take a 5-2 lead, forcing a Rider timeout. Down 11-6 in the set, Rider won three consecutive points to cut the Quinnipiac lead to 11-9. The Bobcats maintained their lead through the midpoint of the set, holding an 18-15 lead. Rider called their second timeout of the set with the Bobcats leading 21-15. The Bobcats outscored Rider 4-3 after the timeout to take the set 25-18.
SET THREE
Rider got out to a 5-3 lead in the set. The Bobcats went on a 4-0 run to take a 10-8 lead. Rider answered back with a 4-0 lead of their own, which gave them a 12-10 lead, resulting in a Quinnipiac timeout. The Broncs extended their run to 8-0, giving them a 16-10 lead. Quinnipiac called their second timeout of the set with the Broncs leading 23-15.
SET FOUR
The Bobcats opened up the set taking a 4-2 lead. Rider went on a 3-0 run to take a 9-8 lead in the set, but Gabby Horman answered right back to tie the set at nine. The Bobcats answered right back with a 5-0 run of their own to take the lead 13-9, leading to a Rider timeout. The teams would trade points back and forth, which allowed the Bobcats to maintain a two point lead. Rider won three consecutive points to tie the set at 20. The Bobcats won two straight points to take a 23-21, leading to a Rider timeout. The Bobcats won the next two points out of the timeout to take the set 25-21 and win the match 3-1.
