Bobcats Take Down Cadets, 41-26, Led by Three Tries from Roskopf

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Quinnipiac women's rugby team struck for its first victory of 2018, defeating Norwich, 41-26, in Northfield, Vermont. With the win, the Bobcats jump to 1-2 on the season and the Cadets fall to 0-1 after their first game of the season.

SCORING SUMMARY

(Quinnipiac 7, Norwich 0) 2:00 - The Bobcats opened the scoring when Margot Vella (Leppington, Australia) bolted up the right side and scored the first try of her career with the Bobcats. Mckenna Haz (Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia) hit the conversion to give Quinnipiac the early 7-0 lead.
(Quinnipiac 7, Norwich 7) 14:00 - The Cadets answered when Caitlin Heale touched down for a try with roughly 15 minutes gone in the first half. Sheila Decker added a successful conversion to knot the score up at 7.
(Quinnipiac 12, Norwich 7) 25:00 - Remy Spires (Sebastian, Florida) scored her first try of 2018 to push Quinnipiac's lead to 12-7 with 13 minutes left in the first half.
(Quinnipiac 12, Norwich 14) 35:00 - Heale touched down for another try to briefly push give the Cadets a 14-12 lead late in the first half.
(Quinnipiac 19, Norwich 14) 38:00 - Mikah Maples (Mowequa, Illinois) scored her first of two tries Saturday to push the Bobcats lead to 19-14 with two minutes to play.
(Quinnipiac 19, Norwich 19) 40:00 - The Cadets answered quickly, striking last in the first half when Amber Kelly pushed through the Quinnipiac defense from five yards out.
(Quinnipiac 24, Norwich 19) 42:00 Emily Roskopf (Dublin, California) started her amazing second half, storming into the try zone to recapture the lead for Quinnipiac.
(Quinnipiac 31, Norwich 19) 48:00 - Maples found the try zone for the second time in the game and fourth of the season to give the Bobcats the 12-point lead. Haz struck for another good conversion.
(Quinnipiac 31, Norwich 26) 52:00 - Norwich answered back once again, scoring their final try of the game before the Bobcats continued their attack.
(Quinnipiac 36, Norwich 26) 58:00 - Roskopf kept the scoring coming for the Bobcats, finding the try zone late in the final half to give the Bobcats the two-score lead.
Quinnipiac 41, Norwich 26) 66:00 - Roskopf finished off her dominating second half with her third try of the day to solidify the Bobcats victory and give them the 41-26 lead.

Roskopf exploded for three tries in the second half, tying the team lead for tries this season with four
