QU Women's Golf Finishes Fourth, Queenie Lai Takes Fifth, at Babs Steffens Collegiate

DEBARY, Florida -The Quinnipiac women's golf team ended up in fourth place out of 12 teams, while freshman Queenie Lai ended up in a tie for fifth (out of 70), as the Bobcats finished up the three-day Babs Steffens Hatter Collegiate on Monday afternoon at the DeBary Country Club.

- Freshman Queenie Lai, who has won the last two MAAC Women's Golfer of the Week Awards, ended up shooting a 76 on Monday to finish with a three-day 75-78-76, placing her tied for fifth with a 229
- Lai and senior Estefania Morales, who was competing as an individual, tied for the low Monday round for the Bobcats, each shooting a 76.
- Lai shot a consistent round with 14 pars on 18 holes, along with four bogeys, to finish with a 76 (+4),
- Over her three rounds, Lai shot an even par on par-3 holes, tying for the second best in the 70-player field
- Junior Julia Kemmling shot a 77 for the second day in a row to finish in a tie for 18th overall with a three-day 236.
- Amanda Jakobsson of Saint LeoTuan-Yu Chiang of Seminole State tied for the individual title with a 4 220, with Jakobsson shooting the low round on Monday with a three-under 69.
- Saint Leo edged Seminole State by one shot to win the team title, 919 to 920. Xavier ended in third place with a 939, with the Bobcats three shots back with a 942.
Quinnipiac will be back in action in two weeks when it travels to the Navy Spring Invitational.
