UConn Comes Back for Narrow 4-3 win over QU Men's Tennis

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Connecticut men's tennis team took three singles matches in three sets as it came from behind to defeat Quinnipiac 4-3 in the first match of the Bobcats' Spring Break trip at the IMG Tennis Academy on Wednesday afternoon. Julian Rozenstein picked up wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles to lead Quinnipiac's efforts.

NOTES:

Senior Julian Rozenstein was the lone Bobcat to win in both singles and doubles, picking up a straight-set 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles with sophomore Patrick Cachapero.
Sophomore Axel Stern gave the Bobcats a 2-1 lead with a 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, which was followed by Rozenstein's win to give Quinnipiac a 3-1 advantage.
UConn needed to win all three singles matches that went three sets in order to come back from the 3-1 deficit, and managed to pull it off, with the clinching win a narrow one from John Michael Hotman at No. 5 (7-5, 6-7, 7-5) over Austin Yannone.
The Bobcats took the doubles point after Rozenstein and Cachapero won at No. 1 and Kyle Alper and Hielke Moore took a 6-2 win at No. 3.
Cachapero nearly gave the Bobcats a clinch at No. 4 after taking the first set and seeing the second set go into a tiebreaker, but Hank Hill was able to escape the tiebreaker and take a three-set win.
Rozenstein earned his team-high 12th singles win, including the last three in a row after also winning on both legs of Quinnipiac's Philadelphia trip in its last action on Feb. 24-25.
