QU Men's Tennis Edged by Colgate in Another 4-3 Decision

BRADENTON, Fla. - For the second straight night, the Quinnipiac men's tennis fell on the short end of a dramatic 4-3 decision, this time coming up one point short against Colgate, which improves to 9-4 on the season with the win.

NOTES:

Sophomore Patrick Cachapero was the lone Bobcat to earn a single-doubles sweep, winning a 7-6 decision in a tiebreaker at No. 1 doubles, along with senior Julian Rozenstein, and then tanking a 6-3, 6-4 decision at No. 4 singles
The match was close right from the start as two of the three doubles courts went to a tiebreaker, with Cachapero and Rozenstein's 9-7 tiebreaker win providing the clincher for the doubles point
Sophomores Axel Stern and Austin Yannone also picked up a doubles win, 7-5 at No. 2.
After Colgate went ahead 3-2 in singles, freshman Hielke Moore (pictured) prevailed in three sets for a 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 win to level the match at 3-3.
The match came down to No. 1 singles, where Jacob Daughery was able to pull out a 10-8 win in the second set tiebreaker against Rozenstein to level the match at a set apiece, and then prevail in the third set 6-4.
The close loss ended a three-match singles win streak for Rozenstein, who won in both singles and doubles yesterday in a 4-3 loss to Connecticut.
The Bobcats will close out their trip tomorrow with a match against Butler at 10:45 a.m.
