Volleyball Faces Marist and Siena at Home Saturday and Sunday

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team will host Marist and Siena on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3-4 at Burt Kahn Court. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. The Bobcats are coming off a historic 3-2 win over Fairfield last weekend.
Notes on the Red Foxes
The Red Foxes are tied for third place in the MAAC with a conference record of 9-5 and an overall record of 12-12. Marist split the last two matches with a 3-1 win over Saint Peter's and a 3-1 loss against Rider. The Red Foxes defeated the Bobcats the last time out with a 3-1 victory on their home court. Marist is ranked first in the MAAC with 183.5 team blocks on the season and third overall with a .200 team hitting percentage.
Scouting the Saints
Siena stands at the bottom of the MAAC with a 1-13 conference record and a 3-24 overall record. The Bobcats defeated the Saints in Loudonville, N.Y., 3-0, on Oct. 17. The Saints are coming off a 1-1 weekend after dropping a MAAC match against Rider and winning a non-conference match against NJIT. Siena is ranked last in team hitting percentage in the MAAC with a .124.
Bobcats Beat Fairfield
On Friday, Oct. 26, Quinnipiac downed Fairfield for the first time in program history as a member of the MAAC Conference. The Bobcats took the Stags to five sets and were able to secure the thrilling win. Kat Miller, Morgan Sherwin and Lydia Jones all recorded double-digit kills and Miller tallied her 12th double-double of the season.
Makeup of the MAAC
Iona still holds the top spot in the MAAC for the fourth week in a row with an 13-1 conference record. Canisius still stands in the second spot and Rider took over the third. Marist, Fairfield, Niagara and Quinnipiac make up the middle of the pack, and Saint Peter's, Manhattan and Siena are the bottom three. Canisius has the best hitting percentage in the MAAC with a .244, and Iona is averaging 14.56 kills per set.
Bobcat Stats
Gabby Horman is ranked second in the MAAC with 77 total blocks and is second overall with 0.93 blocks per set. Miller jumps to second in conference with 342.5 points recorded this season. Morgan Sherwinranks right behind Miller with 310 points. Sherwin is also ranked third in the conference with 291 kills. Pansari ranks third overall in conference with 883 assists on the season.
Setting Standards
Pansari has recorded 3,189 assists in her three-year career as a Bobcat. She currently ranks third on the program's all-time career assists list. Kayla Lawler '12 stands in second with 3,431 career assists and Jen McClain holds the top spot with 4,519 assists.
Miller Time
Kat Miller has recorded 12 double-doubles on the season. She has tallied double-digit kills in the last four consecutive matches. She now has 1,112 digs on her career, which moves her to the fourth spot on the all-time career records list. On the serve, Miller has recorded 39 aces, averaging 0.41 per set, which leads the MAAC and is ranked 34th in the country.
