HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac volleyball team will travel to upstate New York for two MAAC matches against Niagara and Canisius starting Saturday, Oct. 6.
Last Weekend
The Bobcats took on Fairfield (6-0 MAAC) and forced a five-setter, but fell short in the end. Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, N.J.) tallied a season-high 60 assists in the five-set loss.
Scouting Niagara
The Purple Eagles currently stand at 3-12 overall and 3-3 in the MAAC after losing, 3-1, to Iona on Sept. 30. Caroline Leit leads the Purple Eagles with 142 kills, averaging 2.73 kills per set. As a team, Niagara averages 11.33 kills per set with a .176 hitting percentage.
Notes on Canisius
The Golden Griffins will face top-seeded Fairfield before Quinninpiac on Saturday, Oct. 6. Canisius will come into the weekend after earning a MAAC win against Manhattan, 3-1. Leah Simmons leads the Golden Griffins with 173 kills with a .266 hitting percentage on the season. As a team, Canisius leads the conference with a .243 hitting percentage.
Bobcats Making Milestones
Kat Miller (Collegeville, Pennsylvania) tallied her 1,000 dig and now has 1,017 on her career, which is tied for fifth with Kelby Carey on the all-time career records list. She also recorded her 100th career ace in the match against Fairfield. Maria Pansari (Whitehouse Station, New Jersey) also recorded her 100th career ace.
Setting the Tone
Pansari tallied a season-high 60 assists against Fairfiled in an intense five-set match. The junior setter has recorded 2,830 total career assists and is currently ranked third on the all-career records list for total assists.
Miller Time
Kat Miller's impressive senior season continues for the Bobcats with 16 kills and 20 digs for her sixth double-double of the season after facing Fairfield. She remains 22nd in the nation with 27 service aces on the season and maintains the top mark in the MAAC.
