Women's Rugby Strikes for 13 Tries, Defeats Brown, 85-3

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac Rugby struck for 13 tries and 85 points as the Bobcats downed the Brown Bears, 85-3, on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Quinnipiac moves to 3-3 on the year while Brown falls to 2-2 with the loss. The Bobcats were led offensively by freshman Clara Lemal-Brown (Wooster, Ohio), who scored four tries on the day.

- (Quinnipiac 5, Brown 0) 5' - Lemal-Brown (Wooster, Ohio) opened the scoring for the Bobcats, exploding down the left sideline to give Quinnipiac the 5-0 lead.
- (Quinnipiac 10, Brown 0) 10' - Junior Mikah Maples (Mowequa, Illinois) stormed through the Brown defense with 30 minutes to play in the first half to give the Bobcats the 10-0 lead early on.
- (Quinnipiac 17, Brown 0) 16' - Allison Koenig (Waukesha, Wisconsin) continued the momentum for the Bobcats when she scored her third try of the season. Mckenna Haz (Shawnigan Lake, British Columbia) scored her first conversion of the day to put the Bobcats lead to 17.

- (Quinnipiac 43, Brown 0) 50' - Caitria Sands (Essex, Vermont) found the try zone to push the Bobcats lead to 43 points. Haz scored her season-high fourth try of the season.
- (Quinnipiac 50, Brown 0) 52' - Margot Vella (Leppington, Australia) used her speed to plow ahead into the try zone to give the Bobcats the dominant 50 point lead after Haz's fifth try of the season.
- (Quinnipiac 57, Brown 0) 54' - Lemal-Brown scored an extremely long try to push the Bobcats lead to 57 after another successful conversion by Haz.
- (Quinnipiac 64, Brown 0) 57' - Lemal-Brown scored another long try just three minutes later for Quinnipiac. Haz added another conversion to push the Bobcats' lead to 64.
- (Quinnipiac 71, Brown 0) 61' - Lemal-Brown scored her third-straight try of the season and her fourth of the game. Haz struck for her eighth conversion of the game to give Quinnipiac the 71-0.
- (Quinnipiac 78, Brown 0) 70' - Emily Roskopf (Dublin, California) pushed the lead to 78 when she stormed down the field for a try of over 50 yards. Haz's ninth successful try of the day added to the lead.
- (Quinnipiac 85, Brown 0) 88' - Remy Spires (Sebastian, Florida) finished the scoring for the Bobcats when she stormed into the try zone to give the Bobcats the 85-0 lead.
- The Bobcats' 85 points was the most Quinnipiac has scored since they scored 94 points against West Chester in the NIRA Quarterfinals on November 12th, 2016.
- Lemal-Brown's four scores pushed her career and season total to six tries in 2018. The first-year Bobcat's other tries came in Quinnipiac's first two games of the season against Harvard and Dartmouth.
- Mikah Maples scored her sixth and seventh tries of the season. The junior has seven tries in the past six games.
- Koenig's try to give the Bobcats the early 17-0 lead was her third-career try. She scored a try at Harvard after her first try came in Quinnipiac's victory over Notre Dame College a few games ago.
- Saarenheimo-Vanderhorst's try to open the scoring in the second half was the freshman's first career try in the blue and gold.
- Sands' try with a pinch over 30 minutes to play in the game was her second try of 2018 after she scored a try in last weekend's loss to Harvard.
- Vella's try was her fourth-career try. Her last try of 2018 came in the Bobcats' 33-10 victory over Notre Dame College.
- Roskopf's try give her seven tries of the season.
- The two captains, Roskopf and Maples, are currently tied with seven tries so far this season as the two seniors combined for three tries on Saturday.
- Spires' last-minute try was the sophomore's second try of 2018. Her first try came in the Bobcats' victory over Norwich.
- Haz's try was the first-career try for the freshman.
- Haz also struck for 10 good conversions in 13 attempts on the day to push her 2018 total to 24 on the season.
