HAMDEN, Connecticut - The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will air the 2017 Men's and Women's Soccer Preview Show on MAAC.tv tonight (Tuesday, August 15) at 7:00 PM and will feature the 2017 preseason coaches' polls and 2017 Preseason All-MAAC team selections and major award winners. Both the men's and women's programs advanced to the MAAC title game in 2016 and figure to be strong contenders once again in 2017.
The 2017 MAAC Soccer Preview Show provides college soccer fans an early look at the upcoming MAAC season, and will take an in-depth look at the league's teams and top players. Bobcat fans can follow the conversation on twitter using the hashtags MAACSoccer and BobcatNation.
The Quinnipiac men's soccer team is steeped in recent success as the Bobcats have won four regular season conference titles in the last five seasons (2012-14, 2016), including the three titles in the MAAC since joining the league in 2013. The men's team is just three seasons removed from winning the 2013 MAAC Tournament, earning the program's first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament bid. Returning in 2017 is a bevy of talent highlighted by five All-MAAC performers from a year ago including Rookie of the Year Eamon Whelan (First Team), Conor McCoy (First Team), Jeppe Haehre (First Team), James Doig (Second Team) and Rashawn Dally (Second Team). Doig and Max Rothenbuecher captain the 2017 squad.
The Quinnipiac women's soccer team enters the 2017 season under 19th year head coach Dave Clarke following a resounding 2016 campaign that saw the Bobcats notch 12 wins on their way to the program's first-ever MAAC Championship game appearance. The postseason run saw the Bobcats win their first postseason game in 16 years, host a conference postseason game for the first time and play in the conference title game for just the third time (first since 2000). Returning in 2017 is two-time All-MAAC midfielder Nadya Gill along with 2016 All-Rookie selections Kylie Lance and Mackenzie Tibball and 2016 MAAC All-Tournament honoree Al Pelletier.
The soccer season begins over the next 10 days, with the Quinnipiac women opening up on the road against Holy Cross on Friday, Aug. 18, and the Quinnipiac men opening up with an away contest against Boston College on Friday, Aug. 25.
