GAME NOTES
- Senior guard Cameron Young (Los Angeles, Calif.) had 27 to break his previous career high of 26 points, which he set against Colorado at the Paradise Jam on Nov. 17 and matched two days later against Liberty.
- Quinnipiac led 74-71 with two minutes left and had several chances to extend it, but couldn't convert. The last opportunity came to extend the lead when Young grabbed a defensive rebound and dribbled up court, but Quinnipiac was called for an illegal screen in the backcourt with 28 seconds left.
- Jason Dunne scored on a quick drive with 25 seconds left to make it 74-73 and Hartford was able to force a five-second violation. Dunne shot a three on the inbounds pass that missed the rim entirely, but Carroll was underneath to turn it into a three-point play with 22 seconds on the clock to put the Hawks up 76-74.
- Freshman forward Jacob Rigoni (Adelaide, Australia) came down with an offensive rebound with eight seconds left and was fouled to give the Bobcats a chance to tie. He made the first but missed the second, leaving the Bobcats down 76-75.
- Carroll was fouled and made one of two at the line to make the score 77-75, and senior guard Isaiah Washington (Williamsport. Pa.) pushed the ball up floor off the rebound and shot an off-balance three at the buzzer from the top of the key, but it hit off the rim as time expired.
- It was Quinnipiac's fifth game decided by two points or less in its first 10 contests, with the Bobcats standing at 3-2 in those games
- After being behind by four, Young gave the Bobcats a 70-69 lead with 2:39 left to go on a three-point play off his own offensive rebound on a missed three-pointer.
- After Hartford went back ahead, junior forward Abdulai Bundu (Upper Marlboro, Md.) scored off a feed from freshman guard Rich Kelly (Shelton, Conn.) to put the Bobcats ahead 72-71 with 2:13 left. Young was then fouled on a defensive rebound and made two to push the lead to three.
- The Bobcats trailed by 10 points early (21-11), but Washington had eight points in a 12-4 run that got Quinnipiac back within 25-23.
- Young converted his second old-fashioned three-point play with 4:47 left in the half to give Quinnipiac a 30-29 lead, its first since 2-0.
- Young hit his second three-pointer on Quinnipiac's last possession of the half to put the Bobcats ahead 38-34, before the Hawks scored on a drive at the buzzer to make it 38-36 at the break.
- Quinnipiac led by as many as nine points early in the second half (54-45) but the Hawks went on a 12-0 run to take the lead at 57-54 on a Travis Weatherington three-pointer with 9:29 left.
- Young stopped the run for Quinnipiac and then gave the Bobcats the lead at 60-59 on a three-pointer with 6:23 to go, but it was answered by a three from Weatherington 12 seconds later.
- A dunk from Bundu tied the score at 64-64 before John Dunne hit a three for Hartford at the other end. Washington answered with a three-point play to tie it 67-67 with 3:36 left.
- Bundu finished with a season-high 13 points, passing his previous best of 11 set against Wake Forest.
- Quinnipiac came into the game 19-6 all time in the series with Hartford, including 9-1 in the last 10 meetings.
