ALBANY, New York – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey freshman Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) was named the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017 as announced by the league office.
Tufto scored twice in the Bobcats' thrilling 3-2 overtime victory against Vermont on Saturday, Oct. 14. The first-year Bobcat found the back of the net for the first time this season to give Quinnipiac a 1-0 lead. He then scored the game-winner in overtime to give him a team-leading two goals for the season as well as the Bobcats' first multiple-goal game of the year.
For Tufto, he became the first freshman to score a game-winning goal in overtime since Ben Nelson accomplished the feat against Army West Point on Jan. 28, 2005. Tufto has tallied a point in the first three games of this career, making him the first player since Chase Priskie in 2015-16 to do so. Priskie had a six-game point streak to start his career.
No. 18 Quinnipiac is back in action this weekend when it travels to Boston, Massachusetts to face No. 16 Northeastern in a two-game series on Oct. 20-21 at Matthews Arena.
