WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women's rugby team scored twice in the first six minutes and went on to capture a dominant 62-5 road win over Army West Point on Friday evening at the Anderson Rugby Complex, completing a season sweep of the Black Knights.

Notes

Quinnipiac picked up its sixth straight win in the series with Army, including two meetings this season. The Bobcats defeated the Black Knights on opening day in Hamden 42-22
During its current six-match win streak in the series, the Bobcats have defeated Army twice in the postseason, including the 2015 national championship (22-19), their first of two straight titles, and the 2016 semifinals at Army (65-8).
Quinnipiac built a quick 10-0 lead in less than six minutes with two early tries.
After Army closed the gap to 10-5, the Bobcats closed out the first half with two tries and two conversions to take a 24-5 lead into the break.
Quinnipiac started the second half quickly as well, getting a try and a conversion less than two minutes into the second stanza to push its lead to 31-5.
The Bobcats outscored Army 38-0 in the second half. A year ago on opening day, Quinnipiac trailed 19-12 at the half at Army during the regular season and outscored the Black Knights 20-0 after intermission.
The five points for Army represented a season low allowed by the Bobcats, which defeated Norwich 52-7 for its previous low-water mark
Quinnipiac came into the match ranked No. 3 in the nation in the latest NIRA coaches poll, while Army West Point was ranked No. 5

Next Match
Quinnipiac returns home next weekend to face Central Washington for an 11 a.m. contest on Sunday at Quinnipiac Rugby Field. It will be a rematch of last season's national championship, which the Bobcats won 46-24, and the second meeting in 14 days between the teams, after Central Washington took a 31-22 home decision last weekend.
