HAMDEN, Connecticut – No. 8/8 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey squares off with Merrimack on Friday, Jan. 20 in a rematch of this year's Nutmeg Classic semifinals game. The Bobcats head to Merrimack looking to avenge the Warriors' shootout win on Nov. 25, 2016.
LAST TIME OUT
Quinnipiac went 1-1-0 in ECAC Hockey play this past weekend on the road.
The Bobcats first downed Colgate, 2-0, on the road in a matchup between two Top 10 teams on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) and Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) each scored in the win for the Bobcats, while Melissa Samoskevich (Sandy Hook, Connecticut), Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) and Randi Marcon (Winnipeg, Manitoba) grabbed assists. Goaltender Sydney Rossman (Excelsior, Minnesota) made 27 saves in net, collecting her sixth shutout of the season.
Quinnipiac then fell in overtime to Cornell, 3-2, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 in Ithaca, NY. Kate MacKenzie (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta) each scored a goal in the loss. Danielle Marmer (Dorset, Vermont) and Raquel Pennoyer (Rehoboth, Massachusetts) both picked up two assists.

- With a 9-4-2 record (20 points), Quinnipiac currently ranks tied No. 3 in ECAC Hockey.
- Clarkson (23 points) and St. Lawrence (21 points) are the two teams ahead of the Bobcats.

- Quinnipiac has been ranked No. 8 nationally in both the latest USCHO.com Poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll, as announced on Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, 2017.
SCOUTING MERRIMACK
- Merrimack is 4-13-0 in Hockey East play so far this season.
- The Warriors fell in both games vs. No. 6/6 Boston College this past weekend.
- Paige Voight, Katelyn Rae and Mikyla Grant-Mentis all lead the team in scoring with 17 points on the season.
- Quinnipiac and Merrimack have only played once all-time. The Bobcats tied the Warriors on Nov. 25, 2016 in the first round of the Nutmeg Classic at High Point Solutions Arena, then Merrimack advanced to the tournament finals by winning in a shootout.
- Sydney Rossman has 24 career shutouts at Quinnipiac. She needs just one more shutout to tie the program record of 25 shutouts set by Chelsea Laden ('15) and Victoria Vigilanti ('13).
- Four current Bobcats' seniors are closing in on the Quinnipiac program record for most games played (149), set by both Nicole Brown and Kristen Tamberg
- Emma Greco has played in 133 career games, Emma Woods and Meghan Turner have played in 138 games, and Taryn Baumgardt has participated in 139 career games at Quinnipiac. The Bobcats have eight regular season games left in the 2016-17 season.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
- The Bobcats have 41 goals on the road this season, which ranks tied for No. 4 nationally and tied for best in the ECAC.
FIRST-RATE FACEOFFS
- Quinnipiac has won 747 faceoffs in total so far this year, which ranks No. 1 in the country.
- Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) leads the nation with 324 individual faceoff wins so far in 2016-17.
- Quinnipiac currently ranks No. 4 in the nation in team defense, giving up just 1.42 goals per contest.
POWER PLAY
- Quinnipiac has scored on 17-of-94 power play chances thus far in 2016-17, a rate of 18.09 percent – which ranks No. 6 in the country.

- Quinnipiac ranked No. 2 in the nation in PK percentage last season, killing off 98-of-106 penalties (92.5 percent). This year, the Bobcats have successfully killed 73-of-86 PK chances, good for 84.9 percent.
JUST SCORE FIRST
- Last year, Quinnipiac scored first in 25 of its 34 regular season games – going 22-0-3 in those games. The Bobcats have scored first in 18 of 26 games so far in the 2016-17 season, going 15-1-2 when scoring first.

- The Bobcats are 39-3-7 in games where they outshoot their opponent, dating back to the start of last season. Quinnipiac has recorded more shots in 21 of 26 games so far in 2016-17, going 16-2-3 in that span.
CENTURY MARK
- Emma Woods (Burford, Ontario) and Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) both reached 100 career points in the Bobcats' final game before the break, a 6-1 win over RPI on Dec. 3, 2016. Woods recorded four goals to lead the offensive charge for Quinnipiac, while Cianfarano chipped in with a goal and two assists. Woods, the senior captain, reached the century mark in 133 career games (43 goals, 57 assists). Cianfarano, a junior, reached the plateau in 94 games (56 goals, 44 assists).
SUPER CIANFARANO
- Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) has six power-play scores, which ranks tied for No. 1 in the nation.
NO ASSISTS? NO PROBLEM
- Kenzie Lancaster (Waxhaw, North Carolina) has four unassisted goals so far in 2016-17, which is tied for best in Division I hockey.

- The Bobcats were picked as ECAC Hockey's favorite entering the 2016-17 season, finishing No. 1 overall in the ECAC Hockey Preseason Coaches Poll. Junior forward Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) was selected to the Preseason All-ECAC First Team. Last year as a sophomore, Cianfarano led the ECAC with 52 points.
COMMANDING THE CONFERENCE
- Quinnipiac dominated ECAC Hockey play last year, going 16-2-4. The Bobcats finished with 36 overall points, three total points ahead of Clarkson – who went 14-3-5 in conference action. QU allowed just 18 goals in 22 conference games in 2015-16. The Bobcats have gone 7-3-1 in their first 11 conference games this year.
LAST SEASON
- As a team, Quinnipiac is on the heels of perhaps its most impressive season in program history, which ended with an ECAC Hockey Championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. The Bobcats went 30-3-5 in 2015-16, earning the most wins and highest win percentage (.885) in team history. Head coach Cassandra Turner also set the NCAA Record for most wins by a first-year women's ice hockey head coach.

- Other program records set in 2015-16 included: most goals scored (118), most assists (188), highest power play percentage (25 percent), highest penalty kill (92.5 percent), fewest goals allowed (35), lowest GAA (0.92), most home wins (18), longest winning streak (10 games), and longest unbeaten streak (21 games).

EMMA WOODS
- Woods (Burford, Ontario) was unanimously voted by her teammates to be the Bobcats' captain for 2016-17 season.
- Has nine goals and nine assists so far this year for the Bobcats, and 44 career goals to go along with 57 assists for 101 points.
SYDNEY ROSSMAN
- Bobcats' goaltender Sydney Rossman had a .949 save percentage a season ago, allowing just .90 goals per game in 39 games (second-best in the nation). The 2016 ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Year recorded 16 shutouts in 2015-16, which is tied with former Bobcat netminder Chelsea Laden's single-season record from 2014-15.
- Her current .939 save percentage and 1.09 goals-against average for her career rank No. 1 in program history.
- Has five shutouts so far in 2016-17, with a .919 save percentage.

TAYLAR CIANFARANO

- She was selected to the Preseason 2016-17 All-ECAC First Team
- Has 12 goals and eight assists for 20 points this year, and 57 goals and 45 assists for 102 points in her career.
MELISSA SAMOSKEVICH
- Melissa Samoskevich has eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points so far this year.
- She was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team last season, after putting up 16 goals and 16 assists as a freshman.
- Samoskevich has 23 goals and 27 assists for 49 career points.
MEGHAN TURNER
- Meghan Turner, an assistant captain for the Bobcats in 2016-17, has six goals and 10 assists for 16 points so far this season.
- She has 23 career goals and 23 career assists over four years with the Bobcats – including a career-high eight goals in 2015-16.
TARYN BAUMGARDT
- Taryn Baumgardt (Innisfail, Alberta) has five goals and seven assists so far this year.
