LAST GAME (QUINNIPIAC 14, DETROIT 4)
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman shattered his career high in points with five goals and three assists to lead Quinnipiac to a 14-4 road win over Detroit on Sunday. Feldman achieved his previous high of five points on three occasions last season, including when he had five goals in a win over Detroit in the MAAC semifinals. The Bobcats took control of the game quickly on Sunday, jumping out to a 5-1 lead with five different goal scorers, as Ryan Keenan (pictured), Anthony Carchietta, Ryan Corcoran and Drew D'Antonio joined Feldman in finding the net in the first 20 minutes. The Bobcats led 7-2 at the half, and after Detroit scored the first goal of the third quarter, Quinnipiac put it away with six straight goals, as Keenan and D"Antonio each scored their second in the stretch. Foster Cuomo tied for team high honors with three assists, while Jack Brust had 10 saves to get the win in goal.
ALONE IN FIRST
Quinnipiac is 3-0 in the MAAC so far this spring, leaving it as the only undefeated team left in conference play. Marist is in second place at 3-1, with Monmouth also standing with one loss at 2-1 and Canisius in fourth at 2-2. The top four teams qualify for the MAAC Tournament on May 5-7, with the top seed earning the right to host the semifinals and finals.
FELDMAN, BRUST SWEEP MAAC PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS
Sophomore Brian Feldman was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week and Jack Brust earned the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor following the 14-4 win over Detroit on Sunday. Feldman earned the Rookie of the Week five times as a freshman, but earned his first Player of the Week honor after his five-goal, three-assist effort, while Brust was named Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season after making 10 saves.
NATIONAL HONORS FOR VITELLI
Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli had a remarkable performance in an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2. Vitelli went 19-for-19 on faceoffs, which tied for the fifth most faceoff wins without a loss in NCAA Division I history, including 9-for-9 in the fourth quarter as Quinnipiac rallied from a 5-1 deficit to force overtime. After his rare perfect day, Vitelli received the StringKing National Player of the Week award from Inside Lacrosse and was named the MAAC Player of the Week.
CARDIAC CATS
Quinnipiac has had a penchant for dramatic goals early in the 2016 season, none bigger than the two in an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2. The Bobcats tied the score with just three seconds left in regulation after forcing a turnover on a Marist clear attempt, with senior attack Ryan Keenan scoring from behind the cage off a pass from senior midfielder Nate Nibbelink. Then, sophomore midfielder Anthony Carchietta provided the game-winner with just one second left in overtime as he also circled from behind the cage to put a shot into the upper corner just before the final horn. Quinnipiac also earned an 11-10 overtime win over Hartford on March 12 on a goal from Connor Meth.
KEENAN REACHES CENTURY MARK
Senior attack Ryan Keenan became just the 12th player in school history to record 100 career points with a fourth-quarter assist against Marist on April 2. He now has 75 goals and 30 assists in his four-year career, giving him 105 career points, ranking him tenth all-time in Quinnipiac history. His 75 goals, including 14 so far this season, rank him tied for ninth in Bobcat annals, with a chance to move as high as fourth (88) by season's end. Keenan also has an active streak of 23 straight games with at least one point, dating back to 2015 opening day against Brown.

A COLLECTION OF HAT TRICKS FOR FELDMAN
Sophomore attack Brian Feldman enters the Canisius game with 49 career goals in less than two full seasons, ahead of pace to score over 100 goals in his career, something only three Bobcats have accomplished (see above). He leads Quinnipiac with 20 goals this season, including five hat tricks, three of which came consecutively in wins over Bellarmine, NJIT and Hartford. The Bobcats are now 5-0 this season when he records a hat trick and 8-2 in his career. Feldman is coming off a five-goal, three-assist effort in a win over Detroit on Sunday, which set new personal bests in points and assists, while matching his career high in goals.

FAMILY TIES
Quinnipiac's top two goal-scorers in the last two seasons are sophomore attack Brian Feldman (49) and senior attack Ryan Keenan (41). Coincidentally, they aren't the first members of their families to play college lacrosse together. Keenan's father, Derek, and Feldman's father, Daniel, played for one season together on the Ithaca lacrosse team in 1987, when Derek Keenan was a senior and Daniel Feldman was a freshman. It was a connection both players were unaware of until they were teammates at Quinnipiac.
SECOND HALF'S THE CHARM
Junior goalkeeper Jack Brust has had a strong season thus far for the Bobcats, but what has been most impressive is how dominant he has been in the second half of Quinnipiac wins. In the six wins this season, Brust has allowed only 16 goals after halftime (including two overtime wins) while making 42 saves (a .724 save percentage). Projected over a 60-minute game, Brust has a stringy 5.21 goals against average in the second half of QU wins. His numbers include seven saves and two goals allowed in Sunday's win over Detroit, which earned him his third MAAC Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
CARDIAC CATS
Quinnipiac has had a penchant for scoring buzzer-beating goals early in the 2016 season, none bigger than the two in an 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2. Quinnipiac also scored a goal in the last second of the first half against Marquette as junior attack Drew D'Antonio found the net off a feed from sophomore attack James Byrns with just 0.6 seconds on the clock.
GROUNDS CREW
Due largely to its dominance in faceoffs, the Bobcats finished with a whopping 38-16 advantage in ground balls in its 8-7 overtime win over Marist on April 2. Sophomore long stick midfielder Adam Bellamy finished with 11, many of which came on faceoffs, but he also added a huge one in the final 30 seconds of regulation off a Marist turnover to help set up the tying goal. Sophomore faceoff specialist Will Vitelli had six ground balls after cleanly winning several of his faceoffs, while junior goalie Jack Brust added five.
METH COMES UP BIG
Senior midfielder Connor Meth has had a pair of game-winning goals in the last month, including a dramatic sudden-death overtime game-winner in an 11-10 win over Hartford on March 12. His golden goal came when he circled from behind the cage to bounce in an unassisted goal for the winning shot. In a March 26 win over Siena in Quinnipiac's MAAC opener, Meth had back-to-back unassisted goals with the score tied 5-5 in the third, the first of which came while the Bobcats were playing a man down. The second of his two goals held up as the game-winner as the Bobcats went on to an 11-6 win to start off MAAC play with a 1-0 record.
FROST EARNS MAAC HONORS
Freshman attack Matt Frost was named the MAAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week on Feb. 29 after scoring his first three collegiate goals in Quinnipiac's 12-6 road win over Bellarmine. It was a key road win for the Bobcats over a Bellarmine team that had come into the game after falling just 11-6 at No. 1 Notre Dame earlier in the week.
INSTANT IMPACT
After being held scoreless in his first collegiate game, freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo has developed into one of the team's top weapons. He had a goal and three assists in a win over Bellarmine on Feb. 27 and had a two-goal, one-assist effort against Fairfield on Tuesday, March 23 to tie him for team-high honors in points. He added a goal and an assist in Quinnipiac's MAAC opener against Siena and had three assists in Sunday's win over Detroit. He now has 16 points on the season (eight goals, eight assists), ranking him third on the team.
NEW ROLES PAY OFF FOR CARCHIETTA, D'ANTONIO
Sophomore Anthony Carchietta was in the opening day starting lineup at attack, but moved back to the starting midfield at Fairfield on March 23. He responded to the new role in fine fashion, tallying his first career multi-goal game with two goals and one assist in the 13-7 loss to the Stags. Junior Drew D'Antonio also made his first start with the Bobcats at attack against Fairfield (after transferring from Bryant in the offseason) and had a goal and an assist. The two players had major roles in Quinnipiac's 8-7 road win over Marist on April 2, with Carchietta scoring the game-winner with just one second left in the overtime, while also passing to D'Antonio for a goal which tied the score at 6-6 with just over three minutes left to play in the fourth quarter.
LAWSON PROVIDES A LIFT IN WIN AT HARTFORD
Sophomore midfielder Ryan Lawson saw his first action of the 2016 season on March 12 against Hartford and came up big, providing two second half goals to help the Bobcats rally from a 7-3 halftime deficit to win in overtime. Lawson's second goal tied the score at 9-9 late in the fourth quarter after the Hawks had broken an 8-8 tie. Lawson had two goals as a freshman last season, one of which came against a Stony Brook team that finished the year ranked in the national top 20.
BOBCAT STAT LEADERS
Senior attack Ryan Keenan has recently surged into the lead on the Bobcats with 25 points (14 goals, 11 assists), but the race tightened up on Sunday, when sophomore attack Brian Feldman had five goals and three assists to raise his total to 23 points (20 goals, three assists). Freshman midfielder Foster Cuomo (8-8-16) is in third, with senior midfielder Connor Meth (11-5-14) right behind. Sophomore midfielder Ryan Vitelli leads in faceoffs won (82 of 149, 55.0 percent) and ground balls with 31, while junior goalkeeper Jack Brust and sophomore long-stick midfielder Ryan Bellamy are tied for second in ground balls (26). Brust has a 9.24 goals against average and a .547 save percentage, numbers which improve to a 5.59 goals against average and a .685 save percentage in conference games. All three members of the Bobcats regular close defense are in double figures in caused turnovers, with senior Ryan Lawler (14) followed by sophomore Riley Palmer (12) and senior Chris Kendall (10).
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
Canisius comes into the game with a 3-5 overall record and a 2-2 mark in the MAAC after defeating Manhattan 13-11 on Saturday and dropping a non-league game to Binghamton 12-11 on Tuesday. Jeff Edwards (11 goals, 20 assists, 31 points) and Connor Kearnan (16-11-27) are in a tight battle for the team lead in points, while Nick Tuttle (18-2-20) leads in goals. Liam Ganzhorn has seen most of the action in goal and has a 10.87 goals against average and a .482 save percentage.
LAST YEAR vs. CANISIUS
Eight different players scored goals as the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team came away with a 9-7 road win over Canisius last season in Buffalo. Current junior Kevin Diehl was the only Bobcat with two goals, both of which came in the fourth quarter to give Quinnipiac its largest leads at 8-4 and 9-5. Canisius had a late rally, but the Bobcats were able to hold on for the win. Current seniors Connor Devane, Ryan Keenan and Connor Meth added goals, as did current sophomore Brian Feldman.
PRESEASON INSIDE LACROSSE RECOGNITION
Three seniors on the Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team - attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth and defenseman Chris Kendall - were named to the Preseason All-MAAC team by Inside Lacrosse Magazine in December. Keenan and Meth were also named to the Preseason All-MAAC team, which was voted on by the conference coaches.
BOBCATS NAME 2016 CAPTAINS
Five members of the Bobcats will share captain duties this spring, including four seniors and a redshirt junior. Attack Ryan Keenan, midfielder Connor Meth, defenseman Chris Kendall, face-off specialist Connor Devane, and goalkeeper Jack Brust will give Quinnipiac veteran leadership at every position on the field.
BOBCATS PICKED SECOND IN MAAC COACHES POLL
The Quinnipiac men's lacrosse team was picked to finish second in the MAAC Preseason Coaches Poll, announced on December 9, 2015. Marist College, last year's MAAC Champions, claimed the top spot in the poll, while Monmouth was picked third. Marist and Quinnipiac met in the conference championship game a year ago, which the Red Foxes won on their home field 16-14.
YOUNG SQUAD IN 2016
The leadership of the Bobcats captains (see above) will be key as Quinnipiac has a lot of young faces on the team this season. A total of 31 of the 43 players on the roster are freshmen (15) and sophomores.(16), while two junior transfers in their first seasons at Quinnipiac, adding to the influx of new talent. The youth has Quinnipiac poised to be a consistent contender in the MAAC for the next few seasons.
HOME, SWEET HOME
Quinnipiac's performance on its home turf will be important for the team's prospects in the MAAC this year, and the Bobcats got off to a good start with an 11-6 win over Siena on March 26. The Bobcats play road games against the other three teams that qualified for the MAAC Tournament last year (Marist, Monmouth, Detroit). A year ago, Quinnipiac earned two big one-goal wins on its home field, edging Detroit and Monmouth to earn the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.
ROAD, SWEET ROAD
Quinnipiac has proven to be a strong road team this season, tallying a 4-1 record away from QU Lacrosse Complex. The wins include two in overtime, an 11-10 win at Hartford on March 12 and an 8-7 win over Marist on April 2. The Bobcats also picked up a 12-6 win at Bellarmine on Feb. 27, three days after Bellarmine had lost just 11-6 to then-No. 1 ranked Notre Dame, and are coming off a dominant 14-4 road win over Detroit on Sunday.
NEXT UP
Quinnipiac travels to Monmouth on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest in a game that will have major MAAC Tournament implications. If the Bobcats win against Canisius this weekend, they will clinch the top seed and the right to host the conference tournament with a win at Monmouth.
