HOME IN HAMDEN
The Quinnipiac softball team will wrap-up a five-game homestand with a doubleheader against Fairleigh Dickinson on Tuesday, March 29 at the QU Softball Field. The first game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING FAIRLIEGH DICKINSON
The Bobcats will take on FDU for the first time since Quinnipiac left the Northeast Conference after the 2013 season. QU currently owns an 11-2 all-time record against Fairleigh Dickinson. The Knights have struggled this season, posting a 5-17 overall record to begin the year. Most recently, FDU went 2-2 at the Columbia Classic in New York. The Knights split games with both Canisius and Columbia. FDU is batting .284 as a team led by senior Madelaine Wilen at .405 (20-for-74). Wilen also leads the team with 14 RBIs, nine doubles, a .595 slugging percentage and a .457 on base percentage. Madison Lerma heads the pitching staff occupying a 5.59 earned run average and a 1-4 record on the mound.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks enter Wednesday's contest with a 3-23 overall record and 0-2 in the America East. Hartford is currently on a four-game losing streak after being swept in a home doubleheader against Albany over the weekend. The Hawks' last win came against Georgia Tech (4-3) in the USF Under Armour Showcase on March 19. Hartford is batting just .232 on the year, led by Danielle DeMarco at .290 (20-for-69). DeMarco also leads the squad with 12 RBIs, a .449 slugging percentage and a .367 on base percentage. Melissa Pereira leads the pitching staff with a 5.74 earned run average over 13 appearances and 26.2 innings pitched.
LAST TIME OUT
Over the weekend, the Bobcats went 1-2 in a three-game series against the University of Maine at the QU Softball Field. Quinnipiac defeated the Black Bears, 4-2 in their home opener on Friday before dropping a doubleheader on Saturday, 9-2 and 3-1.
CHRIS'S GAME
On April 13, the Bobcats will host Yale in a doubleheader and will honor the memory of Chris Labbadia. On Jan. 16, 2016, assistant coach Lynn Labbadia's 19 year old son was tragically killed in a car accident. Chris will be forever known for his love, acceptance, loyalty, passion and laughter. #BEATCANCER GAME
In lieu of a "pink" game this year, Quinnipiac softball is hosting a #BeatCancer game. The Bobcats are asking those that know someone that has been affected by cancer to wear their colors in awareness to the doubleheader against Army on April 20.
DOWNTOWN ABBY
Last Friday against Maine, Abby Johnson led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence. Johnson's first dinger of the year and third of her career gave the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.
ROBEY IN RELIEF
In the sixth inning of Friday's game, Sydney Robey came in to replace Herzog with the bases loaded, no outs and the Bobcats leading 4-0. The senior walked in the Black Bears' first run, but struck out three of the next four batters to limit the damage to just two runs.
BOBCAT FIRST
In the second game of the doubleheader against Maine, freshman Autumn Martin tallied her first career hit in a QU uniform with an infield single in the fifth inning.
ON DECK
After taking on Hartford, the Bobcats will come back to Hamden this weekend for the start of MAAC play. On Saturday, April 2, Quinnipiac will host Canisius in a conferece doubleheader with the first game starting at 12 p.m. The following day, QU will welcome Niagara for another doubleheader at 12 p.m.
WEEKEND DOMINANCE
Miranda Magana finished the weekend at USF with an impressive .538 (7-for-13) batting average and a .846 slugging percentage. After going 0-for-2 with a walk to begin the tournament, Magana submitted three consecutive multi-hit games. The sophomore went 2-for-2 with a double against Northwestern before going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, a triple and run scored in a 5-2 win over UMass Lowell. With the scored tied at 2-2 in the seventh inning, Magana smashed a two-run triple for the game-winning hit. The sophomore is currently riding a four-game hit streak
FIRST OF MANY
Against UMass Lowell, freshman Kendall Brundrett pitched three innings shutout innings in relief to record her first win as a Bobcat. Brundrett gave up just one hit while facing ten batters.
SHINING IN FLORIDA
Freshman Sarah Heimbach hit .393 (11-for-28) over spring break to boost her overall average to .309 on the season. Heimbach registered a .528 on base percentage and a .464 slugging percentage over the 11 games in Florida. Against Northern Kentucky, the freshman went 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.
HURLING HERZOG
On Saturday of the USF Spring Break Tournament, Casey Herzog picked up a save in the first game before recording the win in the second. Against UMass Lowell, Herzog came in to close out the seventh with a three-run lead. The sophomore allowed one hit and struck out a batter on the way to registering her first save of the year. Against Florida A&M, Herzog gave up two earned runs over seven innings while striking out six batters. The Bobcats defeated the Rattlers, 3-2 and Herzog improved to 4-6 with her fourth complete game of the season.

Robey made three starts on the mound in Hampton, compiling a 2-0 record and a 0.95 earned run average over 19 innings pitched. The senior allowed just two earned runs and three walks while striking out 16 batters.
ALL AROUND ATHLETE
In addition to being named MAAC Pitcher of the Week, Robey also led the Bobcats at the plate in Virginia. Robey hit .429 (6-for-14) with two RBI's, a walk and two stolen bases. In the first game against Buffalo, the senior was 1-for-3 with a run scored. In two games against Princeton, Robey was 4-for-5 with two RBI's and two runs scored. She added another hit and run scored in the final game of the tournament against Hampton.
