PHILADELPHIA, PA. – The Quinnipiac men's tennis play wrapped up play on day three at the ITA Northeast Regional Saturday afternoon hosted by the University of Pennsylvania.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) were both looking to advance to the third and possibly fourth rounds of the singles main draw bracket, but were unable to do so.
Zaretsky began the the day for the Bobcats, by taking on Adam Ambrozy of Columbia. Zaretsky took the first set 6-2 but lost the second 6-3, before retiring the third set.
Ezaka was then supposed to follow with a match against No. 2 seed David Volfson of Cornell, but Volfson withdrew due to injury before the match, giving Ezaka the default win. This allowed Ezaka to advance to the third round, where he took on Hao Sheng Koay of Buffalo.
Ezaka and Koay battled it out in what would be the final singles match of the evening. Koay narrowly took the first set 6-4. Ezaka came out and took five games in the second set but fell just a bit short, 7-5
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 5 when the team takes on Bryant to bring its fall season to a close. The time and location of the match is TBA.
