BEALLSVILLE, Maryland – The Quinnipiac women's golf team completed the final round of the Hoya Invitational in 8th place out of 13 teams competing at Four Streams Country Club in Beallsville, Maryland. Sophomore Nicole Scola (Westerly, Rhode Island) was the Bobcats' top finisher, shooting a 239 (+12) for a tie of 12th place.
As a team, Quinnipiac shot a 990 (+126), good for eighth place. The Bobcats' combined effort was the third-best 54-hole tally in program history, behind the 2012-13 Northeast Conference Championship (979) and the 2013-14 Yale Women's Invitational (989).
Scola entered the final round in a tie for 23rd place after a first-day two of 162 (+18). On Monday, Scola shot an opening round 78 before following with an 82. She managed to shave five strokes off her second round total on the final day to lead Quinnipiac. Scola's 239 is the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history, trailing her 229 at the 2014 Yale Women's Invitational.
Freshman Estefania Morales (Caracas, Venezuela) finished with a three-day total of 245 (82-78-85) as her tie for 22nd place was the second-highest finish among the Bobcat golfers. Taylor Lambrou (Baldwin, New York) finished at 252 for the tournament for a tie of 36th place. Lambrou shot the second-best round of the day for Quinnipiac as she finished with a season-best 83 on the final day of the Hoya Invitational. Lambrou's first day total, which featured two rounds, was a personal best of 169 for 36 holes, beating her previous low of 170 that she carded at the 2013 Tignanelli Towson Invitational.
Jenn Whaley (Farmington, Connecticut) finished the tournament at 259 (+43, 84-85-90) while Emily Ribbins (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) bested her previous day's score by four strokes. Ribbins shot 89 on the first two rounds, but managed an 85 on the final 18 holes of the tournament.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Apr. 5-6 when it competes in the Wagner Seahawk Invitational at Quail Valley Golf Club in Littleston, Pennsylvania.
