
Sydney Young and Ariana Launie Win Singles Matches, QU Women's Tennis Defeated by Evansville, 5-2

Starting of the match with doubles play, the Bobcats picked up a win in doubles play but fell just short of picking up the point for the match. Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) cruised to an 8-1 victory over Mina Milovic and Gaby Fifer of Evansville. The win was Dzulynsky's 16th of the season and 10th in doubles while Rencheli picked up her 12th win of the season and seventh in doubles.
In No. 2 doubles, Rachel Horton (Stamford, Connecticut) and Young nearly took down their Purple Aces opponents Marina Moreno and Kennedy Craig, but fell in the match, 8-6. Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, New York) and Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, New Jersey) competed at No. 1 doubles for the Bobcats but fell to Natasha James and Marketa Trousilova, 8-3.
Young and Launie each cruised to their singles victories to earn the Bobcats two points in the dual match with the Purple Aces. Competing at No. 4 singles, Young took down Craig with a 6-1, 6-4 victory setting the tone in the first set. Launie closed her match strong in No. 6 singles, defeating Andjela Brguljan, 6-3, 6-1.
Raynor and Dassa nearly swung the match in the Bobcats favor as their matches each went to a third tiebreaker set after splitting the first two. In No. 5 singles, Dassa faced Milovic in a battle. After falling in the first set, Dassa came back to win the second set and force a third but lost the match in the third set, 6-2, 2-6, 10-3. Raynor won the first set of the match in No. 2 singles with James but lost a heartbreaker in the third set, 2-6, 6-1, 11-9.
Dzulynsky and Horton also took the court for the Bobcats in singles play. Dzulynsky lost in No. 1 singles to Trousilova, 6-1, 6-1, while Horton battled in the first set but ultimately fell in straight sets to Craig, 7-5, 6-0.

The Bobcats have the rest of the week off before returning to the court on Tuesday, March 17 when they host the Iowa St. Cyclones at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts with the match scheduled for 3 P.M. It will be Quinnipiac's first home tennis match since the fall season when it hosted Hartford on Sept. 23, 2014.
