
Former QU Baseball First Baseman Vincent Guglietti Signs with Frontier League's Gateway Grizzlies

SAUGET, Illinois – Former Quinnipiac baseball first baseman Vincent Guglietti has signed a one-year contract with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League, as announced by the league on Tuesday, November 24.
Guglietti will report to spring training in March before opening up the 96-game Frontier League regular season on Friday, May 13, 2016 against the Washington Wild Things. The Frontier League is currently the oldest running Independent Professional Baseball Organization having formed in 1993 and consists of 12 teams throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. 27 former Frontier League players have gone on to play in the major leagues, most notably the Washington Nationals' Tanner Roark, the Toronto Blue Jays' Steve Delabar, the Seattle Mariners' Vidal Nuño and former Baltimore Orioles' closer George Sherrill.
The Grizzlies are Guglietti's third professional team and the Frontier League is Guglietti's second professional league since graduating from Quinnipiac in May 2015. Guglietti spent this past summer playing with Quebec Capitales and Garden State Grays of the Can-Am League, his first season in professional baseball. He batted .270 with five home runs and 14 RBI in 48 games between the two teams. Guglietti collected 43 hits, eight of which went for doubles, with 19 walks and 19 runs scored. Guglietti hit four of his five home runs with the Garden State Grays in 30 games played, including a .291 batting average with 32 hits.
This past season, Guglietti led the Bobcats in batting average (.330), on base percentage (.414), slugging percentage (.589), runs (43), triples (3), home runs (10), RBIs (47), and walks (27). He was second on the team in doubles (15) and tied for second on the team in hits (65). Guglietti was named All-MAAC First Team, MAAC All-Tournament team, NEIBA All-New England Second Team and to the ACBA All-Northeast Second Team.
In his career, Guglietti posted a .309 batting average with a .376 on base percentage and .464 slugging percentage. He is the all-time Quinnipiac leader in doubles with 49, fourth in program history in hits with 228, fifth in program history and second in the Division I era with 132 RBIs, 14th in program history and 10th in the Division I era in home runs with 18, and 15th in program history and 11thin the Division I era with 116 runs scored.
In addition to this season's accolades, Guglietti was named to the All-Northeast Conference Second Team as a Designated Hitter in 2012 and All-MAAC Second Team as a First Baseman in 2014. During the summer of 2014, Guglietti was named the New England Collegiate Baseball League's Most Improved Player, All-NECBL second team and to the NECBL All-Star Team.
