
QU Women's Tennis Chosen as Favorites to Win Conference in MAAC Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches' Poll

EDISON, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team was chosen as the Preseason Favorite in the 2015 MAAC Tennis Preseason Poll, as announced by the league office on Wednesday. The Bobcats received all nine first place votes which was voted on by all nine head coaches.
Quinnipiac received 81 points in the poll to be selected as the preseason favorites. Fairfield was selected second in the conference with 67 points while Niagara rounded out the top three with 62 points. Marist was selected four place with 58 points and Siena was tabbed fifth with 47 points. Manhattan and Saint Peter's picked up a tied for sixth place with 29 points apiece. Monmouth was voted eight place by the league coaches with 21 points and Rider rounded out the MAAC in ninth with 11 points.

The Bobcats dominated their first season in the MAAC in 2013-14 as they were a perfect 8-0 in MAAC play on their way to the conference regular season and tournament championship. As a team, the Bobcats went undefeated in regular season doubles matches, going a perfect 21-0.
In the MAAC Tournament, the Bobcats were the No. 1 seed and defeated No. 2 seed Fairfield to win the championship, 4-1, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament to face Stanford. Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) was named the MAAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year while former head coach Mike Quitko was named Coach of the Year.
This season, the Bobcats are 2-1 overall and have not faced a conference opponent yet. Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, New Jersey) recorded the 100th win of her career in the fall, while Dzulynsky and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) each crossed the 50 win mark.
Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, New York) has made headlines in the fall season as she moved into a tie for fifth place with Kristin Davis '99 in Quinnipiac women's tennis history with 140 wins, as well as passing former player Stephanie Petrycki's all-time doubles wins record of 81 as Raynor earned her 84th doubles victory.
The Bobcats begin the championship season on Feb. 7 when they travel to the University of Massachusetts to face the Minutemen at Bay Road Club in Amherst, Massachusetts at 1 P.M.
