QU Men's Tennis Sweeps Siena for First MAAC Win of 2014-15 Season

Hamden, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac University men's tennis team dominated the Siena Saints, sweeping the first conference match of the season, 7-0. The Bobcats improved to 1-0 on the season and 1-0 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play.
Starting with doubles, the Bobcats took the point by winning two of the three matches. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) and Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) won the No. 1 doubles match over Alex Burbine and Eric Sumanaru, 8-2. In No. 2 doubles, Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, New York) and Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) dominated from start to finsh, blanking Darren Reisch and Diego Lebron, 8-0. The No. 3 doubles pair of Sebastian Barbero (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) fought to the end but Alessandro Saglia and Joe Diorio pulled through for Siena, 8-5.
Quinnipiac wasn't done there; however, as they carried over the strong start into singles and swept all six singles matches. Ezaka took home the point from No. 1 doubles with the win over Reisch, 6-3, 6-2. Kuwert followed Ezaka by taking the No. 2 point against Lebron, 6-2, 6-3. Ambrosio dominated in his No. 3 match against Burbine, 6-1, 6-0. Rozenstein took care of business against Sumanaru in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Roser's No. 5 singles match with Matt Funiciello came to an exciting end, but Roser pulled through with the 6-2, 7-5 victory. In No. 6 doubles, Barbero and Saglia took a third set to decide the victor, but Barbero prevailed 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
With his two wins, Ambrosio moves to 96 career wins while Roser reached his 50th career win with his singles match.

The Bobcats are back in action next Tuesday, Sept. 23 when they host the Hartford Hawks for a non-conference dual match at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts starting at 2:30 P.M.
