
QU Women's Volleyball Drops Both Ends of Doubleheader

Providence R.I. - The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team lost both games of their weekend doubleheader to close out the Friar Classic Tournament, falling to Morgan State and Providence by the score of (3-0) as they close out their early season non-conference schedule.
Game 1: The Bobcats faced a tough test in their opening game Saturday as they played the Morgan State Bears. This was a difficult test for Quinnipiac who put up a valiant effort. The Bobcats would jump out to leads in both the first and second sets but the Bobcats were not able to hold off the veteran Bears squad.
The Bobcats were led by sophomores Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.) and Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska). Both led the team with sixth kills apiece with Leigh also led the team with 4 blocks in the game. Freshman Jamie Termotto (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Elizabeth Kloos (Munster, Ind.) would also add four kills apiece.
Cody Michaels (Versailles Ky.) once again led the team on defense with nine digs while Emma Ogden (Crown Point, Ind.) would once again set the table for the Bobcats offense with a team leading 19 assists.
Game 2: To wrap up the tournament the Bobcats faced the host Providence Friars. Despite a tough start in the first two sets where the Bobcats lost 25-14 and 25-16, Quinnipiac would not go quietly in the third match. The Bobcats fought back from an 15-8 deficit to take the lead 18-17 at one point. After tying the game at 18 apiece, the Friars finished the match on a 7-3 run.
Allison Leigh led the Bobcats once again on the attack by having seven kills in the match. She was also a big presence around the net once again leading the team with six blocks. Sophomore Jamie Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) added six kills and two blocks in a sold performance.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) had one of her best performances in the young season leading the team with 22 assists while finsihing second on the team in both digs and blocks with seven digs and 3 blocks.
Cody Michaels was once again stout on the the defensive end leading the team once again with 13 digs giving her 22 for the day.
The Bobcats will kick off MAAC Conference platy next weekend as the open up the season with two games next weekend at Burt Kahn Court. Quinnipiac will look to take advantage of home court as they take on the Manhattan Jaspers on Saturday at one o'clock and finsh on Sunday at 1 o'clock against the Iona Gaels.
