New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats dropped their final road game of the season, falling to the Iona Gaels by the score of 3-0 on Sunday. With the loss, the Bobcats drop the season series with the Gaels and will play the final two MAAC regular season contests at home next weekend.
Sophomore Katie Urycki (Chesteron, Ind.) continued her great season leading the offense once again with eight kills against the Gaels. With three service aces in the match, Urycki not only passes the 30 service ace mark, but is now tied for the team-lead with 32. This season Urycki leads the team in kills with 235 and a team-best 2.42 kills per set.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) had a great all-around performance for Quinnipiac. Dawson once again led the team in assists, with 17, also added four kills, four digs and two blocks. With the two blocks she tied for the team-high with fellow freshman Cheyenne Orsi (Bristol, Conn.) who also had three kills in the effort.
In her last road game of her career, senior Tierra Allen (Sumter, S.C.) finished on a good note finishing second on the team with five kills while also adding a block. For her career, Allen has accumulated 281 kills for Quinnipiac averaging 1.25 kills per set. On the defensive side both Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.) and Nicole Milillo (Lynbrook, N.Y.) both played solid defense for the Bobcats. Together they combined for 17 digs with Michaels adding six assists in the match against Iona.
The Quinnipiac Bobcats will be back in action next weekend for the final games of the season. Quinnipiac will look to utilize their home court advantage at Burt Kahn Court as they look for wins over Canisius and Niagara. On Saturday Nov. 15 the Bobcats will host the Canisius College Golden Griffins at 1 p.m. Sunday Nov. 16 will be a special day as Quinnipiac will honor it's seniors from the class of 2015 for Senior Day before the game. This year the Bobcats will honor their three seniors Brittanie Robinson, Tanner Celestin, and Allen during the game against the Niagara University Purple Eagles at 1 p.m. On Nov. 20 the Quinnipiac Bobcats will head south to Kissimmee, Fla. for the MAAC Volleyball Tournament at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World.
