Loundonville, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's volleyball was unable to get their payback against Siena on Wednesday night as the Bobcats fell for the second time against the Saints this week, 3-0. With the loss Quinnipiac drops to 0-6 in the conference while Siena continues their hot start in league play, improving to 6-1 in MAAC play.
Senior right side Tanner Celestin (Norco, Calif.) led the team with nine kills in the match and provided the team's offense. This was her highest kill total since the opening match against Lafayette where she had 15 kills on Aug. 29.
Sophomore middle hitter Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska) had another fine all-around performance for Quinnipiac. Leigh posted seven kills, and once again led the team in blocks with six (two solo, four assists). Leigh continues to play well around the net and mustered a .375 hitting percentage against Siena.
Freshman setter Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) led the Bobcats in assists with 25 in the match. Dawson now has six consecutive games with over 20 assists and has had over 20 assists in nine matches so far this year. Dawson also added a service ace in the match.
Quinnipiac also had another solid performance on the defensive side by sophomore libero Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.). Michaels led the team in digs with 12 and has combined for 20 digs in the two games against Siena this season (10 per match average).
Senior outside hitter Tierra Allen (Sumter, N.C.) had her best offensive performance of the season on Wednesday night as she posted seven kills in the match tallying 11 in the last two matches combined against the Saints. Allen also added one block and one dig in the game as well.
The Bobcats return action this weekend with two more road conference games. The first game will kick off this Saturday Oct. 11th as the Bobcats begin a two game road trip in New Jersey beginning with Saint Peter's at Noon. After visiting Jersey City on Saturday the Bobcats will then head to Lawrenceville as the will play on Sunday Oct. 12th against Rider. Quinnipiac is still looking for that first allusive MAAC win and will be looking to get it this weekend.
