Hamden, Conn. - The Bobcats fell in their MAAC matchup on Sunday to the Siena Saints by a score of 3-0. The Saints defeated the Bobcats, 25-22 25-17 and 25-23, to pick up the victory and improve to 5-1 in the MAAC while Quinnipiac drops to 0-5 in conference play.
Sophomore Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.) led the team with 11 kills which gives her eight double digit kill performances this season. Urycki also provided solid defense for the Bobcats with eight digs.
Another sophomore, Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska), had another impressive day around the net for Quinnipiac. Leigh would lead the Bobcats with four blocks in the game while adding five kills and a service ace in the effort.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) went 20-plus in assists again with 27 for the day. Dawson now has nine games with 20-plus assists and had a combined 47 over the weekend.
Quinnipiac had another solid performance on the defensive side from both Tanner Celestin (Norco, Calif.) and Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.). Celestin led the Bobcats on defense with 10 digs in the match while also adding three kills. Quinnipiac's libero Cody Michaels added eight digs in another solid defensive effort.
The Bobcats return action this Wednesday as they will be looking for some payback in a rematch with the Siena Saints. The Bobcats will play at 7:00 p.m at the Alumni Recreation Center in Loundonville, N.Y. The Bobcats have been good at getting retribution this season when two weeks ago they traveled to Fairleigh Dickinson and beat the Knights after FDU bested Quinnipiac earlier in the season. This could be the Bobcats opportunity to get some retribution and their first conference win.
