POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats fell on Wednesday night to the Marist Red Foxes by the score of 3-0. With the loss the Bobcats fall to 0-11 in MAAC play while the Red Foxes improve to 10-1 in conference play. Marist also takes the season series with victories both games against the Bobcats by 3-0 scores.
Sophomore Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska), once again established a strong presence around the net. Leigh continued to be a dominant presence around the net leading the team with seven blocks while adding four kills. Currently, Leigh is one of the best blockers in the MAAC as she is third in the conference with blocks per set with 1.12.
It was a big day for freshman Cheyenne Orsi (Bristol, Conn.). Orsi led Quinnipiac's attack with a team-leading six kills in the match against Marist. This is the most kills Orsi has had in a match since September 24th when she tallied eight kills in the Bobcats' win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Orsi also added two blocks in the game as well.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) led the Bobcats once again in assists with 17 in the match. Dawson also had five digs, two kills, and two blocks in the game in a solid all-around effort.
Sophomore Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.) played great defense for the Bobcats leading the team with seven digs in the match.
The Bobcats return action on Saturday and Sunday, the Bobcats return home to Burt Kahn Court for two MAAC matchups. On Saturday the Bobcats take on Saint Peter's at 6:00 p.m. in what promises to be an entertaining night match, Sunday is an important match for Quinnipiac as it will be the Bobcats inaugural Dig Pink Event to help support breast cancer awareness. Dig Pink will take place at 1 p.m. against Rider and will be a fundraising event for Breast Cancer Awareness and Quinnipiac has some special plans for the game for those who come out and support the Bobcats.
