HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team fell to St. Peter's, 3-0, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match-up at Burt Kahn Court in Hamden, Conn. After losing to Saint Peter's on Oct. 11th by the score of 3-2, the Bobcats pursuit of redemption fell short despite a great team effort. With the win Saint Peter's improves to 3-9 in MAAC play while Quinnipiac falls to 0-12 in conference play this season.
Sophomore Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska) had another big game for the Bobcats, tallying a career-high four service aces to give her 25 for the year, while averaging 0.31 service aces per set. Leigh continued her dominance around the net with a season-high 10 blocks in the game – her most since she registered a single-game program record 13 against Manhattan last season. Over the past two games Leigh has compiled an impressive 17 blocks.
Freshman Cheyenne Orsi (Bristol, Conn.) had her best game in a Bobcats' uniform, leading Quinnipiac's attack with a career-high 11 kills in the match. Over the last two games, Orsi has totaled 17 kills in back-back strong outings. Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) led the Bobcats once-again in assists with 21 in the match, giving her 15 matches of 20 or more assists to-date. Dawson rounded out her night with six digs and two blocks in the match.
Sophomore Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.) had another solid all-around game, finishing second on the team in kills with six and tied for the most digs on the team with nine. The other Bobcat with nine digs was freshman Nicole Milillo (Lynbrook, N.Y.).
The Bobcats return to action on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. when they host the Rider Broncs in another big MAAC contest. The game will also mark the team's annual Dig Pink game, sponsored by the Side-Out foundation to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. It will be a fundraising event for a great cause and fans are encouraged to support the Bobcats and wear pink for the game.
