Preview for Tomorrow
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats fell this afternoon to the Niagara Purple Eagles by a score of 3-0. With the loss, the Bobcats will continue to look for their first MAAC win tomorrow versus the Canisius Golden Griffins at 1 p.m. With the victory, Niagara improves to 4-4 in MAAC play.
Sophomore Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska), had another fine performance for the Bobcats as she led the team in both service aces (two) and kills (six), while also tying for the most blocks in the match (three). Currently, Leigh is one of the best blockers in the MAAC as she is third in the conference with blocks per set with 1.13. With her two service aces today, Leigh's 2014 season total ups to 20 as she is closing in on both the Top 10 service ace list for the MAAC, all the while chasing the team leaders in Katie Urycki (25) and Nicole Milillo (24).
Freshman Cheyenne Orsi (Bristol, Conn.) had another solid game around the net for Quinnipiac as she tallied three blocks and four kills against the Purple Eagles. Over her last three games Orsi has tallied 14 kills and 11 blocks while establishing a great combination around the net with Leigh for the Bobcats.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) led the Bobcats once again in assists with 22, which now brings her streak of consecutive 20 plus assists in a match to an impressive 10 games. Dawson had a great game around the net tying for the team-high in blocks with three.
Urycki, a sophomore from (Chesterton, Ind.), had a great all-around performance for Quinnipiac as she chipped in five kills and five digs in the game in both a good offensive and defensive effort.
The Bobcats return action tomorrow with another MAAC game against the Golden Griffins of Canisius. The match will tip off at one 1 p.m. and promises to be a great game.
