Lawrenceville, N.J. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats fell in three straight sets to the Rider Broncs on Sunday afternoon. With the win, Rider improves to 6-1 in conference play while the Bobcats fall to a 0-8 record in the MAAC.
Once again the Quinnipiac offense was led by sophomore Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.). Urycki continued to be the kills' leader for the Bobcats this season with 10 more kills in the game against Rider. Urycki now has had over 10 kills in three of the last four games. Urycki also continued her fine year serving with another service ace, giving her 25 on the season, which also leads the team. On the defensive side of the ball, Urycki had five digs in the match.
Freshman Cheyenne Orsi (Bristol, Conn.) capped off her weekend with another impressive performance on Sunday. After five kills and four blocks against Saint Peter's, Orsi followed that up with another solid performance again in the game today. Orsi had five kills and a team-leading four blocks in the match.
Freshman Sierra Dawson (Larkspur, Calif.) led the Bobcats in assists with 30, which now brings her streak of consecutive 25-plus assists in a match to four straight. This is the sixth time this season that Dawson has had at least 30 assists in a match. Dawson also gave a stout defensive performance with nine digs.
Senior Tierra Allen (Sumter, S.C.) had her best offensive performance of the season with a season-high nine kills in the match. Allen also added two digs and a block in the effort.
Quinnipiac would also get another solid performance on the defensive side by sophomore libero Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.). Michaels now has a three-game streak with at least 10 digs in a match.
The Bobcats return action next weekend with another crucial road trip with two more big MAAC games. On Saturday Oct. 18, the Bobcats head to upstate New York to take on the Niagara Purple Eagles at 1 p.m. The next day, Quinnipiac will be back on the court at 1 p.m. to take on the Golden Griffins of Canisius in what promises to be another great matchup.
